Have you always wanted to record your life’s story? Here are three reasons why every mom should have a memoir and tips on how to easily write one.

This is a sponsored post.

What is a memoir?

A memoir is a collection of memories that an individual writes about moments or events, both public or private, that took place in the subject’s life. The assertions made in the work are understood to be factual. A biography or autobiography tells the story “of a life”, while a memoir often tells “a story from a life,” such as turning points from the author’s life. (Source)

All of our lives are made up of these moments or events. Births, marriages, divorces, graduations, promotions, losses, and everything in-between.

Here are three ways you can ensure your life’s story is preserved for your children and future generations.

1. Reflect

Reflect on the timeline of your life. What major events have taken place? How did those events affect you? How would your life be different if those events had not happened? Often, there may be history in your own hometown or city of residence that may start you on your own journey. Write, blog, or journal about it.

2. Discuss

Ask questions of older relatives like aunts, uncles, and grandparents. I did a lot of research while on bed rest during my last pregnancy on my family tree. I was able to trace my paternal heritage back four generations. Discuss these topics with friends, family, and colleagues. Weave this history into your own story.

3. Hire

Have you considered looking for a memoir writer for hire?

There’s a talented writer who offers the unique service of writing personal histories for people, as well as essays, memoirs, and books.

Writing the Soul has many examples of her work. Whether it’s used to capture a special personal life moment or stories from a loved one or mentor, these personal histories are something you’re bound to cherish for years to come.

How many times have you thought to yourself “so much has happened in my life… I have a ton of stories to tell. I just haven’t written them down.”

Sometimes you think to yourself about doing it, but life gets in the way. Not to mention, who in the world would believe the things I have to say? I mean no one has that type of story right? WRONG!

So many people do, they just don’t get it out. They stay buried within their own soul.

What all does it take to get your writing published? Writing The Soul’s process includes five steps:

1. Orientation
2. Interview
3. Transcribing
4. Organizing/writing/editing
5. Graphic design/printing

When it comes to documenting your life, the important thing is to be intentional about your celebration. Choose books, events, and conversations to take part in. Make a conscious decision to seek out information. You won’t regret it and your life will be richer because of it.

Have you ever written a personal memoir?
