Christmas is a time when kids make wishlists. Then, they can’t wait to find out if they will get what they asked for.
When I was a kid, my mom wrapped our presents and put them under the Christmas tree.
I loved Santa and I wasn’t ready to give him up.
I’m still not. So I go to great lengths to hide my kids’ Christmas presents.
Some parents mark a present or two from Santa and the rest are from Mom and Dad. We are the exact opposite. One decent sized gift is from Mom and Dad, one gift is from your brother/sister, and everything else comes from Santa.
Why you might need to hide christmas gifts from the kids
If your family celebrates Santa during the Christmas season, you will most likely have gifts that you have purchased before Christmas. In order to keep wandering eyes and prying hands out of those gifts, it would be a smart idea to hide the gifts in places that the children don’t know about or wouldn’t think to look.
Places to hide Christmas gifts
- under your bed
- closet
- storage or plastic tote boxes in a storage shed
- screened-in porch area
- car trunk
- at a family member’s or friend’s house
- your office at work
- off-site storage unit
- inside other boxes that kids would never check (diapers, toilet paper, etc. )

I hide gifts in suitcases.

What a great idea! I’m not sure I even own a suitcase. I think the last time I traveled, I borrowed my mom’s.
