It’s not a secret that music can have a great impact on people, their moods and behaviors. What’s more, and maybe more surprising, it can actually help to control some mood swings and it even has the ability to help children develop better.
More and more mothers-to-be decide to play music to their unborn children. Sanford Health says “Many pregnant women think that playing classical music for her unborn child will improve baby’s intelligence. Parents want so much to give their children every possible enhancement they can. Parents naturally want the best for their babies.”
Here are some reasons why they should continue to do so when the babies are finally with them:
It develops creativity and imagination. Children are great at mimicking what they see or hear, also sounds, and we all know that it’s not far to go from mimicking to creating. They may be humming or bubbling to the melody they heard before and then start to come up with their own sounds. A baby doesn’t need to become the next Mozart to find it beneficial.
It develops motor skills. When it comes to children and music, it rarely limits to only listening. Babies always try to imitate you dancing and find the rhythm – they clap, they bounce, they tap and sway which can all contribute significantly to the better development of their motor and coordination skills.
It helps to communicate. Just because babies can’t talk, it doesn’t mean that they don’t communicate. Songs can help them express their emotions or even pick up words quicker and more easily.
It brings happiness. Everyone finds music uplifting and highly enjoyable, and it’s even more true for babies for whom everything is new and exciting. Music makes children happy and jaunty, just like they should be.
