10 Places to Hide When You Don’t Feel Like Momming (AKA Being a Mom)

by RAKI WRIGHT

Ever had one of those days when you just want to run and hide? You can't take another moment of being an adult. You're tired of answering questions, preparing another meal, and filling everyone else's needs? Here are my top 10 favorite places to hide:
Ever had one of those days when you just want to run and hide? You can’t take another moment of being an adult. You’re tired of answering questions, preparing another meal, and filling everyone else’s needs?

Here are my top 10 favorite places to hide:

  1. Bathroom
  2. Closet
  3. Car
  4. Running an errand
  5. Work (going in early or leaving late)
  6. Lunch break
  7. Outside
  8. Neighbors
  9. Basement, attic, garage, shed
  10. At the gym

What to Do While You’re Hiding

  1. Read a book.
  2. Do something to pamper yourself.
  3. Laugh.
  4. Let someone else do something you were “supposed to” do.
  5. Enjoy fresh flowers.
  6. Spend time with your friends.
  7. Yoga.
  8. Take a nap.
  9. Do absolutely nothing… and enjoy it
  10. Watch (or binge-watch) your favorite shows.

Let’s be honest. We all do! And there’s nothing wrong with it. We all get overwhelmed sometimes. The best solution is to take some time to yourself. Get away. Take a deep breath. Enjoy some silence. Make some noise. Watch something good (or trashy!).

In the bathroom? Under the covers? Where have you done it?

We know there are only so many times you can hear the Dinotrux theme song before you start sneaking off to binge the new season of Orange is the New Black in the bathtub or “do work in the garage” while you secretly watch Voltron: Legendary Defender. Don’t be ashamed, moms and dads, you’re definitely not alone.

There’s no shame in cashing in on a little me-time.

I totally will hide in the room. Bathroom doesn’t seem to get me anywhere lol. But, that’s primarily due to our children’s ages (3yo and 8mo) 🙂
