If you are like so many other Americans who love coffee, then you will also love the many varieties that coffee can come in. Because of the sheer amount of variation, one may seem confused about it all if they don’t know what is what. However, today we have listed your ultimate guide to different types of coffee.

The Espresso

An espresso is a very strong form of coffee brew. A shot of espresso is used to make a variety of drinks involving coffee. So, when your drink has more shots of espresso, then you will have a stronger drink.

When espresso is served individually, it will be in a small cup with a very dark coffee. This is often referred to as a “shot” of espresso because it is equaling a shot. If you are not an avid coffee drinker, then an espresso will be a good way to wake up in the morning. The Americano

An Americano is very close to being the same as the espresso. It usually has up to 4 espresso shots and is made by mixing the espresso brew with hot water. The Americano is not a strong drink and there is no added sweetness.

The Macchiato

This espresso drink includes a topping of milk that has been foamed. The macchiato is often given a flavored shot, which can make them sweet along with a strong taste.

The Cappuccino

With the cappuccino, it is not considered strong, and its consistency may have you think of it as being a latte, but with a decreased amount of milk added. The cappuccino is made with steamed milk, two shots of espresso, and a top layer of foamed milk. Sometimes, it will have a dash of cinnamon, syrups of coffee whitener. They are enjoyed mostly in the mornings with breakfast or drank solo.

The Mocha

A lot of coffee drinkers think of chocolate when they hear mocha. The mocha is in fact very sweet and comes with at least 2-3 espresso shots, chocolate, steamed milk, and a topping of whipped cream.

The strength of the mocha will depend on how much chocolate and milk is used. Also, a mocha is normally sweet, so you may want to keep an eye on the number of calories you drink. When you have a white chocolate mocha, it will involve white chocolate instead of the normal milk chocolate.

The Latte

The latte consists of a lot of milk. When you drink it, you can taste the coffee, but it will be hidden by the taste of the milk. This makes the latte weak as compared to other coffee variations. They are sweet in nature but lighter than the mocha.

The Irish Coffee

When it comes to Irish coffee, it is drunk more often during festivities, but has become popular throughout the years. An Irish coffee consists of hot coffee, brown sugar, cream, and a shot of Irish whisky. It is very savory and provides a smooth richness from the whisky that enhances the black coffee. With the added brown sugar and foam makes it even more delicious.
