Lunch can be a complicated meal to plan. Sometimes, you get stuck with the same old sandwich every day for lunch, which gets boring quickly. Fortunately, there are many ways to shake up your lunch routine to avoid getting tired of the food. Here, we will discuss tips on having a variety of food for your lunch.

1. Use leftovers for your lunch

Leftovers are great to use for your lunch. You can save the leftovers in the fridge, and when you get ready for your lunch break at work or school, you can quickly reheat it in a microwave, under the stove’s broiler, or in an oven. Leftover pizza is easy to eat cold with some chips on the side, or if you have a toaster oven or regular oven, you can heat the pizza and make it crispy again. Leftover pasta, stir-fry, Shepherd’s pie are some quick meal ideas for your lunch.

2. Use condiments creatively

Sometimes you can add a little twist to your foods by using condiments creatively. For example, you can add some barbecue sauce to a burger instead of regular ketchup for a more subtle taste. You can also use reduced sugar syrup or reduced-fat mayonnaise to substitute for salad dressing. Adding some spices and different sauces is a great way to add variety to your lunch meal.

3. Use seasonings

Different types of seasonings can also add flavor to your meals. You can try adding honey, reduced-fat butter, reduced-fat sour cream, or reduced-fat mayonnaise instead of regular full-fat ones for a healthier twist. Grilled chicken is excellent, but you can use different seasonings such as rosemary and thyme to add more flavor. You can also add barbecue sauce to meat and vegetables for a tasty meal.

4. Try different ingredients

Different ingredients go well together. If you have scrambled eggs for your lunch, you can add some low-sodium ham or reduced-fat cheese for flavor. You can also add some reduced sugar greek yogurt, reduced sugar ketchup, reduced-fat mayonnaise, or reduced-fat sour cream onto your eggs to make them tastier. Boiled vegetables are healthy additions to any meal too.

5. Try different cooking methods

You can try some different cooking methods to make your lunch even tastier. For example, you can grill foods like chicken and vegetables using a grill pan or an outdoor grill instead of frying them in oil. Apart from grilling, you can also try roasting or broiling. You can use reduced-fat butter and reduced-fat sour cream as a substitute for regular full-fat ones when cooking too.

Having variety in your lunch meal every day can help you feel more excited and energetic about your lunch. This way, you will enjoy the food instead of getting tired of it and soon after, avoid eating junk food because you won’t want to eat anymore. Therefore, following these tips on having a variety of foods for your lunch is a great idea.
