We will tell you how carob, capsule and automatic coffee machines differ, what to look for when choosing, and present a rating of popular models on the market.
The buyer should understand what type of device he wants and not try to compare technically disparate types. We are recently read an article form MyFriendsCoffee about how to choose coffee maker for home
Types of coffee makers
How are espresso machines, automatic espresso machines and capsule machines different? All of them are intended for the preparation of espresso and drinks based on it (capsule devices can, in principle, prepare any drinks, including American, cocoa or chocolate). But the cooking mechanism is different. For more information Click here.
Carob
In an espresso machine, the barista manually fills the brewing container (horn), gently ramps it. It takes some skill so that the tablet cobbled together by it is not too dense and not too loose.
The barista then inserts the brewing bottle into the machine and turns on the hot water. This very hot water under strong pressure (recommended value 15 atmospheres) passes through the brew and thus the drink is prepared very quickly, a small cup in half a minute.
Automatic
The coffee machine does everything automatically – it grinds the beans, forms a tablet, turns on the water supply, which, of course, is liked by many users.
Capsule
Capsule models run on ready-made capsules called pods. They contain the right amount of beans with the right degree of roast and the correct grind. There are ready-made sets of pods on sale for preparing a wide variety of coffee varieties. It is a quick and convenient way to prepare a drink. It is especially suitable for those who do not want to delve into the intricacies of preparation, but prefer to get a ready-made drink of a previously agreed good quality.
The cost of a cup of a drink made from capsules is higher than that of a cup made by hand, but the capsule devices themselves cost about the same as carob ones and are noticeably cheaper than automatic devices.
Geyser
A feature of preparation for a geyser coffee maker is continuous heating at a very high temperature (in fact, boiling) for a certain period of time, which experienced users determine themselves. Geyser coffee makers are now not widely used, and the number one company in the world for their production is the Italian Bialetti.
Selection options
1.Ability to prepare different drinks
Before deciding which coffee maker to buy for your home, decide which coffee you prefer to drink. There are many options for coffee drinks, and not all of them are prepared using the same devices. For example, BEKO produces the BKK 2300 and BKK 2113 models for Turkish coffee. The system automatically controls the formation of foam and, when it reaches a certain size, turns off the heating. There are also devices that prepare cold coffee. This is a special way of preparing it, when the tea leaves are infused for 12-24 hours in water without heating. There are not many devices for preparing such a drink. For example, KitchenAid’s Cold Brew Coffee Maker.
2.Performance
Model performance may be important to users. For home, they choose devices for making Americano with a flask for 3-5 cups, for the office, you can choose with a flask for 10-15 cups.
3.Construction
And, of course, pay attention to the design – will it be easy to maintain the device, clean it, wash it, if the flask does not leak, is the tray convenient for collecting spilled drops.
4. The presence of a container for coffee
Check if there is a container for ground coffee. Sometimes it is necessary to prepare a drink from already ground beans, in such a situation this option is necessary.
