5 Tips for Feeling Great at a Class Reunion

by RAKI WRIGHT

If you have a high school class reunion coming in the new year, you may be feeling apprehensive. Most people get nervous especially if it’s their first reunion. So much can happen during those years and you might be feeling unsure about yourself. Here are four common worries people have before a class reunion and tips on how to tackle them.

Getting In Shape

If you’ve put on a few pounds since high school, you’ve certainly got company. Take a serious look at your diet and be honest with yourself. Stop eating and drinking things that are causing you to hold onto that extra weight and start making better food choices. Opt for an exercise you enjoy and begin slowly, working up to several times per week. A class reunion is just as valid of a reason as any to slim down.

Coping With Thinning Hair

Another common issue that plagues people after high school is receding hair. Everyone that has experienced this does so at a different pace. Explore your options for hair loss treatment and see what your choices are. There are products that can stimulate hair growth and others that thicken the hair you still have. Try out different styling techniques and products to look your very best before this important get-together.

Choosing an Outfit

Both men and women fret about what to wear in group situations such as a reunion. This is not a good time to experiment with a new, flashy style. Go for classic looks such as black evening wear or a neutral look like white, beige and navy blue for daytime. It’s better to find an outfit tailored to you that accentuates your positive features rather than trying to impress with an outlandish ensemble.

Calming Your Nerves

No matter how wonderful you’ve made yourself look, you might not be able to calm your nerves, especially if you haven’t seen classmates until now. Try to understand that everyone feels as nervous as you do and your anxiety will pass shortly after you arrive and start reconnecting. Odds are you’ll be laughing it up like a high school kid by the end of the reunion.

Starting Early

There are a lot of reasons people want to improve their appearance and manage their weight. An impending class reunion can really kick you into action. Time is on your side if you get started early. You’ll look great for your reunion and your new healthy habits will hopefully stick with you going into the future.
