I call this my Granny’s fried apples recipe because she used to make them to round out a nice, weekend breakfast complete with eggs, bacon or sausage, and biscuits. You could also serve these fried apples with a dish like pork chops or pork tenderloin. I love the combination of the salty pork and sweet apples. Yum!
Have you ever made fried apples? Does your recipe vary?

I love that this is your granny’s recipe. I just made a pork tenderloin for dinner this week that would have been delicious with fried apples on the side–next time.
Although I might make these as an ice cream topping.

That sounds like a great idea for an ice cream topping!

Hi Raki,
What a great recipe you chose! The timing is perfect since tomorrow is the first day of Autumn.
This is when the first crop of fresh apples is showing up in my part of the country. I make a batch or two
this time of year and I use just about whatever type of apple looks good at the market. The only difference is
that I make it with a few more apples. I serve half with baked pork chops and I save the rest to reheat and pour
over pancakes for a weekend breakfast. Makes a nice change to the usual maple syrup. This year I might make
it with an extra apple or two and try it as a topping for ice cream.
Thanks and Happy Autumn

Happy Autumn to you, too, Rosemary! Thanks for sharing your tips – pork chops and apples sound delicious. My mom used to make that for us with a side of white rice. Yum!
