Bladder Leakage and Pelvic Floors, Oh My!

Do you know what the pelvic floor is? Neither did I.

According to Wikipedia, “It is important in providing support for pelvic viscera (organs), e.g. the bladder, intestines, the uterus (in females), and in maintenance of continence as part of the urinary and anal sphincters. It facilitates birth by resisting the descent of the presenting part, causing the fetus to rotate forwards to navigate through the pelvic girdle. It helps maintain optimal intra-abdominal pressure.”

We all hear about performing Kegel exercises to strengthen the muscles which support the uterus, bladder, etc. But, I never knew the official name for that group of muscles. What I love about “Kegels” is that you can do them discreetly just about anytime.

Do You Experience Bladder Leakage?

I don’t know about you, but whenever I cough, sneeze, or laugh (particularly hard), I’m always a little concerned that I might have a little leakage. I will neither confirm or deny whether this has EVER happened to me before. 🙂

That’s why I was excited to be able to participate in this campaign with Depend.

Depend is entering year two of Underwareness, a social movement and charitable cause to break down the bladder leakage stigma. As part of Underwareness, the Depend brand is encouraging people to show their support for women with bladder leakage. For every photo and video shared using #Underwareness and featuring Depend products, the Depend brand will donate $1, up to $3 million, through 2016 to fund charities that advance the research and education of bladder leakage.

Visit www.Underwareness.com to support the cause and request free samples of Depend Silhouette Active Fit.
