Three Easy Habits That Will Improve Your Digestive Health

It is important that moms take good care of themselves. Often, we put our husbands, children, and work before our own needs. Too much fast food? Eating on the go? Missing meals? Today, I’m sharing three easy habits to improve your digestive health.

support-digestive-health

I’ve shared a few times before that I am diabetic.

This month, I’ve had several doctor’s appointments in an attempt to lower my A1C.

My doctor told me that if I am not able to improve it by my next three-month checkup, that I will have to start on insulin. I not a fan of pricking my finger to check my blood sugar. So I am definitely not excited to sign up for using insulin every day by a needle!

So, this was my wake up call to get myself in check. I’ve tried many times before to eat healthier, but the bottom line is I wasn’t willing or able to modify my habits in order to improve my diet. I don’t have a choice this time.

To help, he increased the strength of one of my medicines and required that I began taking all of this much more seriously. I have to improve my diet, which includes eating breakfast and adding the best digestive enzymes.

In addition, I have been meeting with a nurse in my doctor’s office to discuss counting carbs, daily exercise (or at least three times weekly), monitoring my blood sugar, and taking my medication correctly.

My schedule is crazy, but I’m trying to create new habits which in turn will make up a new lifestyle.

Three Ways to Support Your Digestive Health

1. Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water. Your body needs moisture and one of the best ways is for you to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water each day. This will keep your skin and the rest of your body well hydrated.

When I do a good job of this, I reuse my travel coffee mug or refill a 16 oz bottle a few times each day. Drinking water is really essential for me to reduce impurities within my body and allows the kidneys to work better. It also may reduce the risk of higher blood glucose levels

2. Move It

Every busy mom can find 30 minutes in her day to get in a quick workout. I shared six thirty minute workouts at the gym. If I can’t get to the gym, I can easily walk one mile down my road and back each day within 30 minutes.

I stay ready for opportunities to exercise by keeping a packed bag in my trunk that includes a t-shirt, comfy shorts, my sneakers, socks, my phone, and flushable cleansing cloths.

3. Eat Healthy

Focus on a diet rich in protein, fiber, and low in carbs. As a diabetic, this is a must for me. The protein gives me energy, the fiber helps me stay full (and minimizes overeating), and the reduced amount of carbs works with my medication to keep my blood sugar steady. It also minimizes my digestive issues.

Are you experiencing bloating, gas or digestive discomfort? Your problem could be FODMAPs (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols)—specific types of carbs that can be difficult for some people to digest and trigger digestive discomfort.

If you suffer from digestive issues, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Over 80 million adults in the US alone suffer. And if you do, you know firsthand that sometimes they can disrupt your active and busy lifestyle.

It is really exciting to have a new nutritional drink option!

I love how easy Kroger makes it to save money on the things I buy. Using Kroger’s digital coupons is super easy. Just sign into your account on the Kroger website (or use the app like I do).

The Great Harvest in Evanston has the best gluten free cinnamon scones I’ve ever had. Maybe yours has them as well. I’m sure they’re also made with sugar, but it’s something to think about when you’re done with your elimination diet. The easiest healthy meal hands down is baked spaghetti squash with marinara. When you bake the squash, the insides come out in strands like spaghetti. Even picky kids like it.

I am a beginner at crochet but I have fallen in love with it. But I also realized that it can take over your life, especially when we are learning and watching so many videos. So, I realized I had to set a schedule for myself, fitting in all the things I need to do to stay healthy. Sitting for long periods of time whether I be watching tv or crocheting is not good for our bodies. It is good to get into a habit of taking a break and doing house work, going out for a walk or even shopping to get our steps in ( I usually aim for 10,000 but even half of that is good. Also do not cross your legs when sitting not good for circulation and drinks lots of water.blue light filter

This high intensity workout takes you through 12 exercises (jumping jacks, abdominal crunches, press ups, plank, squats, lunges etc). Training at high intensity with very little rest in between each exercise (apparently!) makes this workout the equivalent of a 30+-minute traditional resistance-training session.orsuloba

Why do you state that massage isn’t allowed with a pacemaker? I have one and have regular massages, which is of absolutely no concern to my doctor. The only consideration is that they do not massage on or directly around the battery. If your masseurs can’t do this, that’s really poor service.nursing class essay helpers

Hi. Well, I just wrote a nice long comment and it disappeared, so I’ll try to remember. Ugh, internet.

First off, it always makes me mad when I find out that a friend her 20s has NEVER seen a gyno. Um, what!? I think you should start going as soon as you’re 18 or sexually active, whichever comes first. Better safe than sorry.

Secondly, therapy is really affordable especially at sliding-scale places, and it’s worth the money for your mental health. I was going to one of those types of clinics for awhile and only paying $25 per weekly session. I think anyone can use therapy even if they don’t feel like they have a “big” problem. It’s always nice to talk to someone about life who has an objective view.Best Lice Comb

Last, my healthcare is free, but therefore it’s pretty crappy. I’d be willing to pay, but I don’t qualify (just started my own business and don’t make enough yet). If anyone knows a way around this in California, please let me know!

Great thanks for writing about the digestive system. If it fails that human cannot survive. The human digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus the accessory organs of digestion (the tongue, salivary glands, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder).

Correction! Teeth cleaning (money spent on) IS very sexy! 🙂 When you have no build-up around teeth, your teeth are much whiter (and lipsticks and glosses look so much better), and things like red wine and blueberries won’t stain your teeth.

I think that in order to eat healthy and do exercise first it has to be a decision you make for yourself either you are at home or traveling. When you make that decision then, when traveling, you need imagination and determination, whichever comes first.
