Don’t you just love cats? Cats are one of the cutest animals to have, especially if you’re an animal lover. Now, what do you do if you want to get a cat, but you feel your studio apartment is too small to take care of one? What if I told you you could still get a cat? Your apartment shouldn’t get in the way of you getting one of the cutest and best animals known to man. I’ll be telling you how you can effectively own and take care of a cat in a studio apartment.

Get plenty of toys and give them attention

Cats, like all animals, love attention. They may seem to enjoy staying on their own with little disturbance, but they like to interact; this is where you come in as an owner. Playing with your cat should be something you do whenever you can, and you don’t need a big apartment for this. You can get your cat toys that they can easily push around and chase after. You can even use some of the toys to play with your cat. Constant activity keeps your cat healthy and happy. A feeling of abandonment could make your cat cranky.

Figure out their litter situation

Now before you decide to get any cat, you should make sure their litter box is worthy of them. It would be best if you made it so perfect that even you would have no problems sleeping in it. When you get a cat, you should notice how they react to their litter box, do they like it? What do they use it for? The good news is that litter boxes don’t take up much space, so your studio apartment will be able to accommodate it. Many cats prefer big litter boxes like the big Maine Coon litter box. If you want to make sure your cat loves her litter box, here are some things to look out for:

  • You should make sure the litter box is easily accessible
  • You should make sure it’s always clean
  • You should make sure it’s big enough for your cat
  • You should make sure the litter isn’t too much in the box

Follow these tips and watch your cat warm up to their litter box.

Accompany them outside

A lot of people think that it’s only dogs that require regular walks, but it’s not so. Taking your cat outside would do them much good. There’s something about breathing in the fresh air and looking at the beautiful scenery that makes humans and animals alike happy. When you take them outside, make sure you put a harness on them so that they don’t stray away. Initially, some cats don’t like the feel of a harness, but they gradually get used to it.

You shouldn’t let the size of your apartment get in the way of you getting a trustworthy companion. You can own and take care of a cat anywhere as long as you know what you’re doing. Go out today and welcome a new addition to your family.
