If you are like many adults, you feel exhausted on a regular basis by work demands, family commitments and household chores. With such a stressful life you may long for a spa getaway, but it can seem impossible to schedule one.

In that case, bring the spa home. With the right bathroom, you can make every day a small celebration of self-care. You can also check an interesting article on steam showers on The Best Flushing Toilet.

Stone Surround

To reduce stress, evoke nature. The shower surround and countertops are the perfect place to start, as they comprise so much of the lavatory. Install stone countertops and stone shower walls Milwaukee in light colors. Natural options include granite, travertine, soapstone and marble, all of which are beautiful yet easy to clean and maintain.

Multiple Shower Heads

Enhance your shower experience by installing a shower system that contains multiple heads. An oversized rainfall showerhead is a must, complemented by a detachable hand-held unit. The shower panel should extend halfway to the floor, containing several adjustable water massage nozzles with ergonomic controls. You can even replicate the spa experience with steam heads, misters and spray jets.

Shower panels come in various materials and finishes such as bamboo, brushed stainless steel and wood-look glass. Choose the one that best coordinates with your design aesthetic.

Properly Sized Bathtub

The standard bathtub is not large enough for most people. Unless you like dangling your feet over the edge, consider splurging on an oversize model. Soaking tubs are deeper than standard tubs but have a similar footprint; they are ideal for submerging yourself in long, pampering bubble baths. If you have the space, you may prefer a wide tub or a jetted corner unit designed to accommodate multiple bathers. It is important to measure your bathroom before buying. Also sit in it if you can, to ensure it will be comfortable.

Soothing Colors and Sounds

Start your day off serenely with a neutral, natural color palette. Popular choices include gentle greens and blues, balanced by sand, cream and ivory. Keep the space well-lit and cheerful with skylights or solar tubes that let in soft, filtered sunlight. Windows are another great source of light, but make sure you maintain your privacy and a nice view. You may wish to frost the window or attach a patterned window film.

Install a superior sound system. Some homeowners like speaker tiles that you can incorporate into your shower surround, but you may prefer installing wireless marine speakers. Then enjoy gentle yoga music, birdsong, ocean waves or any music that makes you smile.
