You want every birthday to be special for your child and if you have a little boy to buy for you will be thinking about what would be the best gift ideas that are appropriate to their age.

Their age makes a big difference to what you buy them and there will be certain toys for 7-year-old boys and gadgets that might be trending, or it could be that you have something more traditional in mind.

Here are some gift ideas to consider if you are buying for your boy’s birthday.

Think about their age and ability when buying

As a general guide, it is worth noting that when your child is growing up they will reach different developmental milestones and that means there are certain toys and games that are more appropriate than others.

The average 7-year old tends to like to write stories and draw more detailed pictures, and they also like building challenges and the opportunity to get creative.

If your boy is creative or likes to get stuck into a building challenge, it could be a good time to get them something like lego, or maybe a comprehensive artist’s kit could be just what they are looking for.

Set them a design and construction challenge

If you want to encourage your son to use his problem-solving skills and try his hand at hands-on design and construction challenges, Lego is always a popular choice.

Try looking for “Chain Reactions” which provides them with the components to design and build a moving machine.

Get them into science

If you have a child who has a naturally inquisitive mind they might love getting a science kit for their birthday.

Make sure you pick a science kit that is recommended for their age. For example, “Sick Science” do a kit that shows you how to turn a soda bottle into an awesome rocket, which could get them very excited on their birthday.

If your child is a bookworm

There are many kids who love a book that has the sort of humor they enjoy at their age and “Captain Underpants” is a prime example of a book that they will not want to put down.

If they have already read this one, the author, Dav Pilkey, has written: “Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas” which they will probably find hilarious.

Young wizards will appreciate this gift

Harry Potter has managed to capture the imagination of many young children and if your boy is really engaged with this franchise they will probably be super excited to get the training wand that teaches them how to cast a number of different spells. Here are 10 GIFTS FOR HARRY POTTER LOVERS.

If they love to put on a show

By the time your child has reached their 7th or 8th birthday, they should have the memory and required skills to be able to master a number of magic tricks.

There are a number of great magic sets you can buy and once they have got the hang of a few tricks they will be keen to put on a show and confound you with their magic skills.

There should be something they like amongst these suggestions and one of these gifts could help turn it into the best birthday they have had.
