Are You Having a Moving Nightmare? Here Are 5 Ways to Avoid It

by RAKI WRIGHT

We, humans sometime or the other have shifted places for a job or any other personal reason. Such experiences may give you a nightmare if you have to face the same situation again in life.

It’s true, especially if the previous one did not go well. Moving is a sensitive as well as a stressful process. You have to depend on a moving and storage company to pack and move your things to your new residence. It’s hard to trust them with your beloved belongings such as heirlooms, artworks, or musical instruments. But in the end, you have no other option but to rely on them as it’s not feasible for you to do all the shifting work by yourself. You can reduce your anxiety if you can take some extra measures to find out the right movers to assign the task. Here’s what you will need to do.

Look for a local recommendation

More often than not, these moving and storage businesses are family-owned. Most of the time, they receive clients through word of mouth. Such recommendations go a long way in getting new customers. And, on the other hand, you will know whom to trust. The firsthand experience of a happy and satisfied client is more helpful than any online or TV commercial.

Ask your neighbors, friends, acquaintances, or family members if you want to find a trustworthy mover like the Dearman Moving & Storage Company. Someone or the other must have had the experience of working with a reliable mover and packer like them.

Do some research work

Once you receive some recommendations, proceed in your own way to know the reliability and reputation of the companies. You can call them and ask them to visit you and do an in-person estimate. It will tell you which of the movers is willing to go the extra mile to take care of the needs of their customers.

Ask whatever question you want to ask

It’s better to clear out everything at the very beginning if you want to avoid misunderstanding later. The representatives of a reputable mover will give you transparent answers to all your queries without any hesitations. Make sure to know whether the task will be carried out by them or they intend to outsource it. If it’s the latter, then you can take a call whether to assign them the job or look for some other company.

Get a detailed estimate

It’s better to get a detailed account of the estimate the company will provide you with when they will come to inspect the goods. You can tally that will other estimates given to you by other moving and storage companies. But remember, if you are looking for good service, it comes at a price.

Seek professional references

Any good moving and storage company provides potential clients with professional references, which aids them in getting new clients. Ask for such references and verify their validity. Know about their experiences. If all goes well, you can give that mover a green flag. And if you find that something is fishy, do not hesitate to walk away.

Conclusion

Before you proceed, make sure you know the company’s address, where to contact in case of emergencies, the location of their storage facility (if you avail of it), and if possible, verify them.
