The stats for car accidents occurring on the highways of Florida makes for frightening reading, and they are showing no sign of abating. You don’t have to take our word for it – thousands are searching Google for a car accident lawyer in Fort Lauderdale or shouting at Siri for motor attorneys in Orlando.

Scary Stats!

There are over 1,000 car accidents every single day in Florida. Over a 12 month period we are looking at around 3,000 fatalities and over 165,000 serious injuries. In 2019, in just Orange County, there were more than 30,000 road traffic accidents. These types of accidents are the main cause of teenage deaths in the USA. DUI, drunk under the influence, is the leading cause of RTAs. The second most common reason is distractions, with around 25% of accidents caused by the driver using their cell phones to call, text and even take selfies while they are driving. Imagine this for a second; you are in charge of a vehicle weighing over a ton and you start snapping pics of yourself at the wheel WHILE you are moving – welcome to the modern world of technology. Bad weather, fatigue and speeding all add to the already grim statistics.

The Videos

A warning before you head over to YouTube; these videos aren’t for the faint-hearted! There are hours and hours of dashcam footage which make harrowing viewing. You will get the pleasure of sitting in your home and watching, open-mouthed, as reckless drivers indulge in such displays of dangerous driving. Many drivers climb into cars, turn on the engine and pull away leaving their common sense on the sidewalk. ‘Shooting the gap’, where cars zip in and out of spaces in different lanes is terrifying to watch, and you can only imagine how terrifying it is for the other drivers. Another favorite is ‘let’s beat the red light’ whether there are cars in the way or not…The I-4 in Florida (starting in Tampa) has been given the highly undesirable, but thoroughly warranted, title of America’s most dangerous highway. You may want to give this route a miss if you can or be extra careful if you can’t avoid it.

Engaging a Car Accident Lawyer

If you are unlucky enough to be involved in a road traffic accident in Florida, the chances are it will not be your fault. Whether your injuries are minor or severe, the driver who has caused you harm needs to be held accountable. An experienced car accident lawyer will help you through this tough time and work for you to get you the financial compensation you are entitled to. If you are a Florida car accident victim contact a lawyer as soon as possible. The sooner you get the lawsuit filed and the ball rolling the sooner you will be able to get on with your life and put the whole horrible incident behind you.
