by RAKI WRIGHT

Popularly known as the Golden State, California is a majestic land known for its orthodox spirit and awe-inspiring history. Even though the pandemic caused Californian tourism to take a massive blow, statistics indicate that the industry is recovering.

About 50 million tourists visit this beautiful state yearly, which is expected to rise in the future. If you plan a trip to the Golden State, here are some unique things you could try.

Hiking

There is something for everyone in California, including the high-energy folks. Lace up your hiking boots and gear up for an exhilarating hike on a dormant volcano in Lassen Volcanic National Park, Cinder Cone. A trail leads to the top of the crater, where you can stop and take in the breathtaking scenery before returning to civilization.

Scavenger hunting

Art enthusiasts congregate at the Palm Desert from February to April to participate in an annual scavenger hunt. The organizers hide dozens of art pieces throughout the desert and allow you to run wild till you find as many whimsical pieces as possible. Scavenger hunting sure beats staying in bed all day.

Riding a tram

If you enjoy the occasional glass of wine, you would love a tour of Napa Valley’s various wineries. One particular winery known as Sterling stands out as you would need to ride a tram to the summit of the mountain before you tour the property. At the tail end of the tour, you get to bask in the beauty of the valley below you as you relax on a large patio.

Whale watching

One of the most serene sights is coming up close and personal with aquatic creatures in their natural habitats. We can guarantee that Harbor Breeze Cruises provides the best long beach whale watching experience In California. You stand a chance to catch a glimpse of various species of whales, such as the Humpback Whale and the Pacific Gray Whale in all their glory, not to mention dolphins and Orcas.

Swimming

The weather in California is enjoyable throughout the year, making swimming a pleasant pastime. Forget swimming in a pool while you could cool off in the McCloud Falls in the northern part of the Golden State. The waterfalls contain three tiers and could be the perfect background for your Instagram photo.

Glamping

Most of us are familiar with camping, where you pitch a tent, sleep on the cold hard floor and hope the bugs won’t creep into your sleeping bag at night. On the other hand, glamping is a more boujee form of camping where the site contains picturesque tents and services that could make a five-star hotel go green with envy. The Yosemite National Park in California is the place to be if you want to bask in the glow of the starry night and want to inject a bit of luxury into your camping experience.

Bottom Line

The Golden State will never cease to surprise you with its sunny beaches and jaw-dropping valleys and mountains. Once you look into some of the fun facts, you will wish you had learned about them sooner. We hope this article has expounded on some of the fun things you can do in California.
