6 Corporate Event Ideas Employees Will Enjoy

Every so often, business owners have to hold corporate events. More often than not, these events involve training and motivational speaking. Holding events like these can be a highly effective way of motivating one’s workforce. A motivated workforce is a productive workforce, so motivation is essential.

However, if you do not carefully arrange and organise your corporate events, employees could find themselves bored, unengaged, and irritated. These feelings can lead to your employees feeling dissatisfied with their jobs.

If you want to hold a corporate event, then here’s how you can hold one that employees will enjoy.

Team Building

Team building events are a good way of getting your staff engaged and working with each other. It can be difficult figuring out which corporate team-building activities are best. Generally, the ones that involve communication, problem-solving, creative thinking, and employee bonding are good ideas. All of these things will bring your employees together. It is worth noting, team building exercises don’t need to be formal. A lot of employers make the mistake of thinking that every single corporate event needs to be professional. Paintballing, hiking, and other outdoor activities could be good team-building activities. Make sure that you offer a prize, so there is something for employees to work towards. If there is no incentive, employees might not put their all into team exercises. Set your team-building activity for a convenient date, too. Try to avoid arranging it for a weekend or after work.

Scavenger Hunts

Scavenger hunts can be highly effective ways of bringing your employees together and getting them to work in a team. If you divide your staff into two teams, then you can pit them against each other. Again, you should offer a prize at the end of the hunt. The winning team should be awarded for their efforts. The losing team should receive a prize for getting involved, but not anything as grand as what the winners receive. Giving the losers a prize will help them to feel valued as employees.

Business Simulations

Business simulations can be a good way of getting your employees’ brains working. In the context of this point, the term simulation is just synonymous with roleplay. You should set up a circle of chairs and ask employees to roleplay with each other in front of you and the rest of your staff. This can be a good way of gauging people’s experience levels and also encouraging people to come out of their shells and get involved. It does need to be noted, public speaking is not for everybody. If anybody is particularly anxious, do not force them to get involved.

Escape Rooms

Escape rooms are a great way of getting your employees to work together and use critical thinking skills. The downside to escape rooms is that they can be very expensive. However, you should be able to get a discount by hiring one using a corporate discount. Most escape room companies give businesses corporate discounts. If you are unable to get a discount, try to negotiate with the management of the escape room you have chosen to go to. You might be able to get a reduction in the price of your tickets if you negotiate hard enough.

Office Debates

Office debates can be a good way of getting employees to communicate with each other and work together. However, office debates can also be a pretty effective way of turning everybody against each other. If you are going to hold an office debate, then make sure that it’s not on a controversial or political subject. Bringing politics into the office can be a very bad idea. Try to pick a subject that’s not going to be dear to anybody’s heart. If anybody behaves inappropriately during the debate or gets too heated, make sure that you reprimand them and if necessary, punish them.

Design Battle

One last team-building exercise that you could consider is a design battle. Design battles are when you divide your employees into two teams and ask each team to come up with a unique product or service. Then, they have to market the products or services to you. There should always be a prize available to the winning team. You should, again, ensure the losing team gets something too, so they don’t feel left out. Design battles can be a lot of fun and can be undertaken in the office, so there’s no need to hire a venue.

Corporate events can be a good way of getting your staff involved with each other. They’re also a pretty effective way of motivating people to share their opinions, talk openly, and build relationships. Consider the activities listed here in this post if you are struggling to find something suitable for your business.
