by RAKI WRIGHT

Emergencies can strike at any time, and it’s best to stay as prepared as you can be. However, some emergencies are usually left out of our thoughts until we face them.

Dental emergencies are a perfect example. Most of us never start looking for an emergency dentist until we have a dental problem that needs immediate medical attention at an odd hour.

Finding an emergency dentist can be difficult unless you know a local dental clinic that offers 24-hour emergency dental care. Unfortunately, most dental clinics aren’t open round the clock. A handful of them have emergency hotlines that you can call for preliminary guidance on what to do until the clinic opens and you can see a dentist.

Things to know about dental emergencies

As mentioned earlier, dental emergencies tend to be largely ignored most of the time. In fact, most of us aren’t even sure about which dental conditions qualify as emergencies. Here are a few things to know in this regard:

  • Dental emergencies can be life-threatening

It’s rare for dental emergencies to be fatal. However, that doesn’t completely rule out the chances. Some emergencies, like severe dental abscesses, can potentially be life-threatening. A dental abscess is a major disease that starts with the formation of a pus pocket in a tooth and eventually spreads to the jaw and other parts of the body.

  • The symptoms can be unbearable

The main reason why people tend to undermine the seriousness of dental emergencies is that the symptoms aren’t deemed to be that bad. After all, a toothache doesn’t sound like a huge problem, right? Well, depending on the cause, tooth pain can be excruciating enough to prevent you from being able to talk properly.

  • The problem might be more severe than you think

Here’s the thing about dental problems – you don’t always know the reason behind the symptoms until you visit a dentist. Drawing from the previous example, a toothache may occur due to a variety of reasons, including severe infections that can potentially cause nerve damage. Don’t ignore the symptoms if they’re abnormally intense or seem to be growing quickly.

  • Timely care can save you money

If the symptoms aren’t unbearably intense, you might wonder if it’s worth spending on emergency dental care. Depending on the dental emergency in question, there’s a high chance that the condition can worsen without timely medical attention. For example, an infection in the tooth pulp or the gum can spread quickly. A missing dental restoration can cause you to lose a tooth. Ultimately, you’d end up shelling out a lot more money on treatment.

Ultimately, it all comes down to the same thing – you shouldn’t ignore dental emergencies and consult a dentist right away. If a dentist isn’t available near you at that hour, at least consult one over the phone for home treatment advice.

Best emergency dental care in Mesa, AZ

Thankfully, finding timely care for dental emergencies isn’t that hard – you have several options in Mesa. It’s just a matter of knowing which dental care providers are the best for emergencies, especially outside office hours and on weekends.

  • Teledentistry

The world’s largest online dental care provider, Teledentistry, is the best choice for emergency dentistry in every aspect. Sure, Teledentistry isn’t a dental clinic and cannot provide you with the necessary treatment itself. However, what they can do is they can help you get an emergency appointment with a reputed dentist near you. Teledentistry works with the best dentists all over the US and can help you find quality dental care immediately.

Besides this, Teledentistry also offers online consultations with emergency dentists. The whole point of emergency dentistry is to provide immediate relief from dental pain, swelling, and other symptoms, right? You can get an online emergency dentist appointment with Teledentistry at very short notice.

  • Drs of Smiles

This is a reputed dental clinic in Mesa, with three dentists available to treat dental emergencies. Drs of Smiles boasts a comprehensive dental care infrastructure suitable for major procedures. Treatments offered at this clinic include root canal treatment, TMJ treatment, dental cavity treatment, and more. Hence, this clinic is a good option for various complex dental emergencies.

Although Drs of Smiles isn’t open 24 hours a day, they do have dentists available on-call round-the-clock. You may give them a phone call and consult a dentist if you have a dental emergency after their office hours. However, you’ll still have to wait until the clinic is open and an appointment is available before seeing a dentist in person.

  • Mesa Dental Clinic

Mesa Dental Clinic offers family and cosmetic dentistry in two locations – East and West Mesa. However, their range of services also covers emergency dental care. Mesa Dental clinic offers a vast range of procedures that can remedy your dental emergency or help with post-treatment recovery.

This dental clinic has also earned fairly good reviews and is a reliable choice in this aspect. Unfortunately, they are only open during regular office hours and closed on weekends. This is why it’s not recommended to keep them as your preferred choice for emergency dentistry is not recommended. Dental emergencies can occur any day, and 24/7 availability is a must.

  • East Port Dental

East Port Dental is a reputed dental clinic on McKellips Rd, offering a wide range of dental care services. Regardless of whether you had an accident or suffering a major tooth infection, you may count on them.

This dental clinic also offers same-day appointments and flexible hours to accommodate walk-in patients with dental emergencies. However, while East Port Dental is a good choice in general, they remain closed on weekends.

Endnote

These are only four of your options for emergency dentistry in Mesa, AZ. Teledentistry is definitely the best among them in terms of 24/7 availability and instant consultations. The rest are good choices too, but nothing beats an immediate appointment during a dental emergency.
