With the Covid-19 pandemic and the current state of quarantine, you need to come up with some fun activities to stay entertained at home. And as the summer approaches its high, there is no better time to fire up that grill in your backyard and make some delicious burgers.

So, get some potato rolls, and break out the grill. Something about the fresh homemade burger, tender, and juicy on the inside was perfectly seared on the exterior. With the right toppings and a soft bun that can make all of your worries just fade away.

Blue Cheese, Bacon, and Balsamic Onion Burger

Yield: 8 servings

Prep time: 30 minutes

Total cook time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Red onion (1/2 a medium piece)
  • Balsamic vinegar (2 tbsp)
  • Kosher salt and pepper
  • Lean ground sirloin (1 1/2 lb.)
  • Blue cheese (4 ounces)
  • brioche hamburger buns (4)
  • Lettuce and sliced tomatoes
  • Cooked thick-cut bacon slices

Instructions:

  • Toss the onions with the vinegar in a small bowl and season with a little bit of salt and pepper. Set aside to use later
  • Fir up the grill to a medium-high temperature, and form the beef into four equal balls. Flatten the balls into about three-quarters of inch-thick patties and make a small and shallow indent in the center of the patties. This will help them maintain their shape while cooking.
  • Season the patties with salt and pepper and throw them on the grill with the indented side facing up. Cook until the burger releases from the grill. Then flip the burger and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  • During the last couple of minutes, top the burgers with some blue cheese and cover them to let the cheese melt.
  • Lightly toast the buns and assemble the burger by topping the patty with the Balsamic onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and of course, a delicious slice of bacon split in half.

Miso-Glazed Chicken Burgers with Cabbage-Apple Slaw

Yield: 8 servings

Prep time: 30 minutes

Total cook time: 30 minutes

Instructions:

  • Ground chicken meat (2 lb.)
  • Whole-wheat breadcrumbs (1 cup)
  • Onion (1)
  • Celery (2 stalks)
  • Egg whites (2)

  • Miso paste (1/2 cup)
  • Brown sugar (3 tbsp)
  • Cider vinegar (2 tbsp)
  • shredded cabbage (2 cups)
  • Sweet red apples (2)
  • Sesame buns (8)

Instructions:

  • Take a large bowl and combine the chicken with the breadcrumbs, chopped onion, celery, and egg whites. Season with some salt and pepper.
  • Shape the ground mixture into eight equally sized patties. Place them between squares of wax paper to avoid sticking to each other and refrigerate for about an hour.
  • Take another smaller bowl and mix the miso paste with a couple of tablespoons for brown sugar and cider vinegar. Set the glaze aside.
  • Toss together the slaw in another bowl and set that aside as well.
  • Fire up the grill to a medium-high temperature and toast the buns until warm. Now, grill the burgers for about 6-minutes on each side.
  • Brush the burgers with the glaze and grill for an additional minute. Check some online reviews to get the best offset smokers and best pellet smokers and grills.
