Why Should You Get Plumbing Issues Fixed Right Away

by RAKI WRIGHT

It’s another day as usual. You’re going about your routine when a plinking and hissing sound comes from somewhere. A slight suspicion grips you, followed by a fear of it being correct.

Your worst fears are confirmed when you find out the source of the noise: a leaky pipe. The first thought that visits you is “to find a plumber near me.” But what if the repairs could be delayed by a day or two? Surely that couldn’t hurt. Not really. The longer you do that, the worse it will get. Before you know it, you could end up with a flooded bathroom or toilet.

Call a professional, like Mr. Rooter Plumbing.

But what makes it so essential to get your plumbing repair attended to right away? Read on to know.

Overall Damage to the House

Initially, the leakage may be a minor one and restricted to a small area. However, if left unrepaired, it will worsen with time. Think of it like a toothache, if you will. The reasons behind a leaking pipe are many, biggest of it highlighted by Benjamin Franklin Plumbing San Jose is age. Over time, it could develop cracks externally or internally because of uneven temperature. One of the weakest parts of a building system is the joints. Water will seep through them quickly, resulting in a flooded area quicker than you might. It could also lead to toxic molds, discoloration of walls, and peeling of wallpapers. The worst that could happen is weakening the building’s foundation, leading to its total collapse.Summer energy saving tips | Summer Fun

Water Wastage

It is estimated that water leaks in households cause a loss of almost 10,000 gallons of water each year. Some common leaks in houses are in areas like a showerhead, dripping faucet, below the sink, water heater base, ceilings, and around the toilet. If you have a water tank because of an irregular water supply, a leak will make the motor work more challenging to fill the tank, while the pressure will be considerably weaker. Over time, the amount of wastage will increase. There is also an ethical dimension attached to this since water is a precious commodity, and wasting it is harmful to the environment.

Higher Bills

The last point is connected to this one. While you may not realize it, wasting water will lead to higher bills in the long run. How does that happen? Let’s say you turn on the tap with faulty piping. Half the water is wasted along the way, consequently leading you to spend more of it ultimately. The more the consumption, the higher the bill.

Molds and Health Concerns

Mold grows exceptionally well in humid conditions. Naturally, if your house has a leaky plumbing system, it will increase this fungus. While it is unsightly and will damage your walls, it can lead to various health conditions. These are allergic reactions, skin rash, fever, coughing, sneezing, asthma episodes, runny nose, and redness in the eyes. A leaky pipe can also lead to the entry of contaminants into the water. That happens because of the lack of adequate pressure in the system.

Seeing the harmful effects of a leaky pipe on your house and health, the first thing you should think about is searching for a “plumber near me.” There are some things that you can procrastinate. Leakage is not one of them.
