As people age, especially women, it’s common that they begin to notice parts of their body that they don’t feel confident about.
Women often notice parts of their bodies that are not the same as when they were younger. It’s possible that you have tried many non-medical ways to fix this insecurity, but what happens when none of that works? Then what?
Many women turn to cosmetic procedures as they age as a way to preserve their youthful and beautiful appearance. However, some women don’t know if they should choose cosmetic surgery or a non-invasive procedure. If this is something you are struggling to decide, this post may help you come to a conclusion.
Which is Better for Me – Surgery or Non-Invasive Procedures?
There is no definite answer for which procedure, surgery, or non-invasive, is better. In fact, there are a lot of things to consider when deciding which procedure to commit to here are some things to think about.
What Are You Looking to Have Done?
Are you looking for an intense procedure such as blepharoplasty, liposuction or rhinoplasty? Or are you looking for something a bit simpler, like botox? You need to think of what you are having done when deciding what is best for you, surgery or non-invasive.
Certain procedures that require more intense work should be done surgically to ensure that nothing goes wrong and because surgery often is followed by a hospital stay to make sure that recovery goes as planned.
On the other hand, if your procedure doesn’t need to be done surgically, try a non-invasive procedure, the recovery time will be faster and your follow-ups will likely just be doctors’ visits rather than hospital stays.
Some common non-invasive cosmetic procedures include:
- Lip injections
- Forms of rhinoplasty
- Laser hair removal
- Botox
- Dermal fillers
- Sclerotherapy
- Non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation
- Non-surgical fat reduction

What is Your Budget?
After thinking about what kind of cosmetic procedure you want to be done, consider your budget. Typically, surgery costs more than non-invasive procedures because it requires anesthesia, a hospital room/stay, and more intense recovery treatment. Non-invasive procedures are a bit more affordable as anesthesia is not required and the procedure is done in a doctor’s office.
If your cosmetic surgery offers itself to be done surgically or non-invasively, you have the option to decide which will meet your budget. For example, some nose jobs can be done surgically, or they can be done by simply injecting the nose with a liquid to change the shape. If one is looking to get work done on her nose but is on a tight budget, she should choose the non-invasive procedure.
However, some procedures can only be done surgically, so if the price for your cosmetic surgery is out of your price range, wait until you have the money so that you can get the most out of your cosmetic surgery.
What is Your Experience with Cosmetic Procedures?
Some people that have not had any cosmetic surgery done before may gravitate toward a non-invasive procedure as they are less intense. Cosmetic surgeries often have longer recovery times than non-invasive ones and are more painful, so if you are not used to this kind of thing, it may be worth your while to look into a non-invasive option.
Similarly, if you don’t have the time to take off from work or you have other life responsibilities such as children, you may want to choose a non-invasive procedure because of the fast recovery time and minimal pain and discomfort.
If you have gotten a procedure done before and you liked the results, consider going back to that doctor again. Additionally, if your last procedure was non-invasive and you are thinking about getting surgery for your next procedure, ask your previous doctor for advice and/or a doctor recommendation.
Find the Cosmetic Procedure That is Right For You
Depending on the kind of cosmetic procedure you have in mind, you will need to think about many things that go along with it such as what is listed above. Before making any choices, be sure to talk to a few doctors to ensure that you are getting the best treatment possible and that the cosmetic procedure you want to be done is absolutely necessary. Likewise, do extensive research to learn about the various options you may have.
