Quiet is a verb meaning “Make or become silent, calm, or still.”
Quiet can either be a great thing or a horrible thing.
Great, if it helps you to be calmer, think.
Horrible, if it is the sound that is coming from your child’s room…because you know something untoward is going on.
Sometimes I have to write down the things I’m thinking about before my mind is quiet enough to fall asleep.
It helps my mind slow down, process things, and get them in priority.
Sometimes Most of the time, this means waking earlier than everyone else. Often, this means turning off the radio while I am driving. I don’t want to hear what anyone else has to say, I don’t allow my own thoughts to play, rather I need to create silence… a place where God has room to communicate with me.
Regularly find time to quiet your soul.
Quiet time is when the magic really happens.
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.

Hi Raki
I am visiting from Lisa- Jo’s. I just love your description of quietness being a verb. Quietness can be a dead noun if you allow it to be, I think, but I just love to experiencing quietness with our Lord in sweet, alive communion.I hope you get my drift, because I don’t think I do!!!
Much love
Mia

Dear Raki,
Beautifully written. I enjoyed how you meditated on the word quiet. I too need to shut off the voices of the world so I can hear the Lord speak in the quiet.
Thank you for sharing! Susan
