On many occasions due to lack of time we cannot make small arrangements that we have pending at home. Now is a good time to do it and get everything ready. The most frequent in regard to small arrangements usually occur with drains, pipe cleaning, bad odors, etc…

On many occasions, making these small arrangements will make us a world because we think it will be difficult to correct and calling a professional is usually the last option. There are small problems with the faucets in the bathroom or kitchen, the pipes, bad smells, etc. But the question come in our mind how to remove limescale in the bathroom? You can easily solve these problems yourself, although calling a professional will always be the best option to avoid future damage.

We Give You Some Simple Tricks!

1- Eliminate Lime:

This is the biggest problem in bathroom and kitchen taps, also for appliances that need water to function (washing machine, dishwasher). Luckily we can combat it with a very simple product that we all have at home, the vinegar. In the case of bathroom and kitchen taps, what we must do is unscrew it and immerse it for 1 hour in a container with hot water and vinegar. After this hour, we will take them out and put them back in again. In the case of appliances, we will do a vacuum wash by adding vinegar in the place of the detergent and we will wash at a high temperature. In both cases you will notice changes, the taps will be cleaner and in the case of the dishwasher the glasses will no longer have those whitish stains that we like so little.

2- Unclogging The Pipes:

This is a frequent problem in bathrooms and kitchens, that a pipe gets clogged. Normally this occurs due to the amount of dirt we throw down the drains, in the case of the kitchen it is usually food scraps, grease, etc. and in the case of the bathroom it is usually hair, soaps, toothpaste, etc … There are several tricks to get rid of small traffic jams depending on the area you are in, we will do one or the other.

3- Eliminate Bad Odors:

There are times when we can have bad smells that come from the pipes but we don’t have any blockage, and on other occasions both things occur, bad smells as a result of a blockage. In the first option (bad odors without clogging) the problem is usually in the siphon, it has a U-shaped piece that is responsible for joining the pipe with the drain, well, the lower elbow of said U must have a minimum of water, its purpose is that the odors do not come out, but if this “tank” is full of residues, they rot and cause us to have those bad smells, letting the tap run for a minute can help to solve the problem, since this system it will be filled with the necessary water and the residues will disappear. In the case of occasional / holiday homes, we must let the water run for a longer time and with all possible force since the lack of use means that in addition to having little water, the waste is much more solid.

It can also be disassembled to check for debris, clean it under the tap and reassemble it, for this you must be very careful, always putting a basin underneath since when you remove it, water and debris will fall.
