Heartfelt Gifts for Grandparents

This year has been hard on everyone, but grandparents might be suffering more than average, especially if they live alone.

If you want to show that special senior that you care about them, a gift from the heart can help. As an example, you could spoil Grandma and send her a personalized Mother’s ring. Keep yourself entertained with a crafting project or use other creative heartfelt gifts for grandparents that don’t require a crafty mind. These suggestions can improve your loved one’s mood in these trying times.

Get Your Kids Involved!

Staying connected in one another’s lives is hard to do while we have to social distance. Get your kids involved in a project for Grandma or Grandpa to make your gift especially meaningful. Have a day where you amass their drawings and make a cute collage, which will spotlight progress in your children’s creativity and give grandparents a very special memory.

If not a collage, have your family make a special art piece that grandparents can hang on their wall. If you have younger children, try finger-painting with them using child-safe paint. For something more unique, try a window art or pottery-painting kit to make cute decorations for a grandparent’s home.

You can also weave handmade bead jewelry with the kids for their grandma and grandad to wear. Beadwork can be easy to learn. Start practicing early on to let the kids get used to the process. There are tons of easy patterns online that you can use for inspiration. Don’t be pressured (and don’t pressure the kids) to come up with something elaborate and fancy. The important thing is that you all put a lot of thought, time, and effort into making a special handmade present. No matter how simple the gift, grandparents almost always love what their grandkids make.

Make a Memorable Video

You surely have a large collection of photos and videos of your children, but now it’s time to put them all together in one convenient slideshow DVD video for your loved ones to watch whenever they miss you. Use some of their favorite songs in the background to give it that extra flair it needs.

To make it extra personal, dig through some of your loved one’s photos and digitize them. Not only will you be able to use them in your video, but you will also preserve them, as physical photos fade and deteriorate over time, another benefit of digitizing photo collections. A video highlighting your family’s history is a timeless present that can be passed down for years to come.

Feed Their Hobbies

Especially now, your parents’ or grandparents’ hobbies are essential to keeping them happy every day. Showing that you care about their hobbies by providing them with more materials or tools for serious hobbyists can be meaningful to them. Provide them with a new kind of yarn or a new set of tools to take their hobby to a new level.

Keeping in touch, even virtually, is one of the best heartfelt gifts for grandparents that will show you care. Right now, showing love is the best gift you can give.
