One of the most exciting things about being pregnant is choosing what will go on your baby registry. This can also be confusing if you don’t get the right advice or know what to look for.

If you have a mom-friend who  can tag along with you to the store, or sit next to you while you choose items online, invite them along and  make it a girl’s day. If you’d like to look over some of the basics, here is a short list of items every first time mom needs.

Swaddle blankets

One of the first items you’ll use at the hospital is a swaddle blanket. Whether it’s something the hospital provides for you or it’s what  you bring from home, you’ll need plenty of these blankets. You’ll use  one each time your newborn goes down to sleep. A comfortable swaddle blanket can help baby get used to being outside of the womb.

Diapers

Newborns go through about 700 diapers during their newborn stage. This is six to nine diapers per day. When compiling  your registry list, add as many packages of diapers as you want. This will  help you save money during the newborn stage. You’ll also want to add wipes since diapers and wipes go hand-in-hand.

Breastfeeding essentials

If you’re breastfeeding, keep a breast pump handy Your little one will get full easily, and you’ll want to pump out the extra milk and store it in bags, in your refrigerator, for future use. Along with the breast pump, make sure to add nipple cream, nursing pads, and the bags to store your milk.

Burp cloths

Your baby might  spit up while burping.  Having a fresh burp cloth for each feeding is better than reusing a soiled one. Since newborns eat a lot throughout the day, you’ll want to have plenty of burp clothes, enough  to hold you over till  laundry day.

Bottle feeding essentials

Bottles should be kept sanitary, so you’ll want to have a few bottle brushes to  keep bottles and bottle nipples clean. Spoil yourself and  add a bottle washer by Baby Brezza to your registry. This machine will wash and dry your baby bottles for you. If you’re planning on formula-feeding your infant , Baby Brezza also makes a formula maker that mixes the right amount of formula with water and heats ito to  the right temperature. Add a bottle warmer to your registry so that you can easily heat milk for the baby.

Clothing

You’ll want a variety of clothing  for your newborn so you can decide what’s best for your little one. From short and long sleeve onesies, zipper and button styles, to even a knotted baby gown at Sandstone Avenue, you can experiment with the different levels of comfort for baby.

Travel

Some of the bigger, more expensive items that are necessary for your day-to-day activities include a car seat, a stroller, and even a baby carrier. Brands like  Doona, are making it easier to convert your stroller into a car seat and vice versa. Be sure to do your own research and read reviews before deciding on these items. You want to make sure  you get the best fit to your lifestyle.
