Do you struggle with creating and following a weekly cleaning schedule and being a working mom? This list is going to save you so much time and ensure your house is in presentable condition.

I struggle with creating and following a weekly cleaning schedule and being a working mom. This list is going to save me so much time and ensure my house is in presentable condition.

This is part of our 31 Things Every Working Mom Needs series. To read all the posts in order, visit the introduction post to see the outline for the whole series.

Being a busy mom with a lot of housework, kids, and work to handle isn’t easy and means very little free time. It is important to be organized and to manage to do all tasks on time and complete them as planned. If you struggle with the creating and following of a certain weekly cleaning schedule you can use the one presented here. Of course, you could hire a company like Maid Service Houston.

It will save you time and ensure the healthy and presentable condition of your home. This is especially important when you have children to look after.

At the end of this post, you will able to download a printable cleaning schedule for working moms.

You can designate all major tasks for the days of the weekend and leave one day for catching up and completing tasks you didn’t have time for. The main tasks are: doing the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, sweeping and mopping the floors, vacuum cleaning, washing the sheets and towels and replacing the bed linen. There are chores like decluttering and dish washing which should be done every day.

You can designate the cleaning of the bathroom or any other of the tasks for Monday or whichever day you choose. For the bathroom cleaning you should have a good all-purpose cleaner, microfiber cloths, glass cleaner, toilet disinfectant. These you should store anywhere in the bathroom cabinet or under the sink. You should clean the tiles, sinks and cabinets with the universal cleaner, wash and rinse them well, apply suitable detergent on the windows, rinse them and disinfect the toilet.

The laundry you can leave for the second or another day of the week. Collect all clothes and separate them by color. Wash separately the white from the colored clothes using suitable washing product. You can use the same day for washing the bed linen and towels if you prefer. The bed sheets and towels should be washed separately with milder products.I struggle with creating and following a weekly cleaning schedule and being a working mom. This list is going to save me so much time and ensure my house is in presentable condition.

The third day of the week you can designate for dusting. Make sure you keep and display only the items you use and like on the shelves and cabinets. MainCleaners Chelsea warns having too many items will make the dusting a nightmare. Use microfibre cloths and suitable furniture polish for the dusting. First move small and large items from the furniture and after applying polish wipe the surfaces. Use a cobweb duster to clean the corners and ceilings of the rooms.

Designate the next day for vacuum cleaning, make sure you hoover all rooms’ carpets, upholstery and soft coverings. Move from room to room making short brakes to clean the rugs and soft coverings.

You can continue the cleaning of the floors with sweeping and mopping. Start with sweeping the areas which have small visible dirt particles and crumbs and continue with mopping all hard floors. You can use store bought products or a solution of water, vinegar and essential oils. Apply on the tiled and hard floors and leave them to dry.

You can designate one day for cleaning the kitchen – cabinets, cooking appliances, sinks, fridge and others. Remove greasy marks, stains, burnt food, crumbs and grime from all kitchen surfaces using suitable preparations – self-made or bought depending on your preferences.

You can leave the last day of the week – Sunday for replacing the bed linen.

You should check all bedrooms and replace the dirty sheets with clean ones. Throw the dirty sheets in the basket for laundry and you can wash them on the day you have designated for this. As this work won’t take you too long you can do the tasks you didn’t have time for during the week to do now.

Of course there are tasks like washing the dishes, decluttering and others which should be done every day. The weekly cleaning schedule presented here is exemplary and can be modified depending on the needs and preferences. You can add other tasks to the days of the week with less time.
