We live in an overly polluted world, and even seemingly clean air can be laden with toxic components. That is why caring homeowners install air filter systems in their homes to keep their families safe from lethal pollutants. Air filters eliminate poisonous gases and trap pet fur and dust particles that are often bacterial vectors and notorious allergens. Let’s look further into what a perfect air filtration system offers your home.

Trap allergens

The air around our homes is filled with dozens of invisible airborne allergens such as pollen particles, fine dust, and pet fur. If not controlled, these allergens can cause severe allergic reactions to family humans. The good news is that you can buy air filters online at affordable prices to trap pollen grains and pet fur, reducing their chances of getting inhaled.

Extract poisonous chemicals

With rampant air pollution, especially in heavily industrialized urban centers, tons of poisonous gases such as Radon and asbestos particles get released into the atmosphere every day. Without appropriate filtration systems, they can end up in your house and in your body. Appropriate filters eliminate asbestos and Radon gas molecules that can cause lung cancer if inhaled. Radon is produced by naturally occurring radioactive elements found in building materials, while asbestos is found on old-school roofing materials.

Filter foul odors

Chemicals such as formaldehyde and gasoline rapidly decompose at room temperature, releasing irritant odors. These chemicals fall into a larger group of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and form a considerable proportion of aerosol sprays, paints, and upholstery. Having air filters fitted with activated carbon traps neutralizes these compounds eliminating the foul smell instantly.

Slow the transmission of airborne diseases

Tiny floating pathogens carry flu and other airborne diseases and that is why they quickly spread from one family member to another. Robust air filter systems trap most of these floating microorganisms, reducing their concentration in the infected air. Installing an air filtration system should be a priority if you live with an elderly person since their immune system is weaker.

Trap tobacco and cigarette smoke

Particles from cigarette smoke can travel a great deal on air, some of which end up in your house. This is even worse if you have a smoker in the house or the immediate neighborhood. Air filters with activated carbon trap these smoke particles due to their high affinity to nicotine surfaces. This way, you can ensure that polluted outdoor air doesn’t thoroughly mix with the indoor environment.

Prolong the HVAC filter life span

Air filters do much of the HVAC filter’s work and with reduced particles clogging the HVAC filter, its longevity is enhanced, eliminating the need for frequent expensive replacements.

Better sleep

Dust polluted bedroom air can trigger allergic reactions and hay fever which causes continuous sneezing, running nose, congestion, watery eyes, and coughing. You don’t want such an episode in the middle of the night as its effects may interfere with your sleep and daily productivity.

Enhances air circulation

As the air filter system draws air through its filters, it creates airwaves in the house. This enhances the air circulation within the entire household and distributes warmth evenly.

Endnote

Air filters come in various models and sizes and it is advisable to consult an expert or do some research before settling for a specific model. Additionally, you should bear in mind that different filter systems have different filtration mechanisms, some of which are more efficient than others.
