by RAKI WRIGHT

Shopping for a wedding outfit can be quite a daunting task. What makes it so difficult is that many find it hard to choose from the wide array of lehengas, palazzos, sarees, sharara, gharara, Anarkali suits, and party wear suits available. Well, here is a simple solution: When in doubt, stick to a saree.

The Saree is known for its ethnic glamour and constitutes a major part of every Indian woman’s wardrobe. It’s a great attire for any wedding occasion. It can be worn in a variety of ways that depict locale and origin including the Bengali, Nauvari, Marathi, and Gujarati styles to mention a few. Much more than that, however, these six yards of beauty can also be styled in a modern and fitting way that’ll make all heads turn in your direction in admiration. Certainly, this is worth giving a try.

Styling your Saree Differently

Wondering how to style your sarees to make them suitable to wear at Indian weddings as party wear saree?

With your saree, you can slay effortlessly without necessarily blowing your account. Here are seven ways you can style your saree to achieve this

1. The Butterfly Style:

The Butterfly style has attracted lots of comments in the fashion industry. It is a modern approach to the use of the saree that doesn’t require a bulk material. It is achieved by making extra thin pleats at the top of the pallu using a pin while also creating a butterfly-like shape at the lower end of the pallu. It is very stylish and makes you appear slimmer.

2. Pants Style Saree:

If you are looking to make a fashion statement, this is the way to go. All you have to do is swap the traditional underskirts of the saree with a pair of leggings or pants. It is easy to wear, comfortable, glamorous, and can be the perfect outfit for a wedding reception or a cocktail event.

3. Dhoti Style:

Looks pretty close to the Pant styled drape. Requires the use of a chiffon saree with minimal print. It is also very quick and easy to wear and was made popular by actresses like Samantha and Sonam Kapoor. Used with a beautiful blouse, an off-shoulder top, or lycra tight, this style will appear even more appealing.

4. Pre-stitched/ Cocktail Style:

The pre-stitched saree donned with a matching blouse is the king among the mix in terms of being easy to wear, gorgeous, and absolutely fashionable. It comes in different varieties including the sequined, net, and peplum styles. You can also wear it with a crop top. How amazing is that?

5. Belted Style:

Whether you use the Indian Kamar bandh or a western belt, using a belt to cinch your waist after draping your saree normally is a game-changer that brings glamour to an otherwise simple look. If you love to draw attention to your waistline, this is a perfect way to style your saree.

6. Nauvari Style:

Unusual is the word that comes to mind when I think about the Nauvari style with its unique draping style that warrants the lower part of the pallu being draped around the legs like a dhoti while the upper end is worn as usual.

7. Lehenga Style:

Why buy a lehenga when you can turn your saree into one with the right pleats. The lehenga style saree is super chic and you can easily learn how to drape it here.

Conclusion

Sarees bring out the beauty and poise of the Indian woman and investing in one for your wedding saree is a wise choice as many occasions and festivities will subsequently still require you to appear in one.
