Are you expecting a little bundle of joy soon? The excitement is surreal, right? Your days are probably filled with designing and deciding the baby’s nursery. It’s quite natural. It happens to all parents, especially if it’s your first baby. Amidst these emotions, there is a good chance you’ll end up investing in things the baby doesn’t necessarily need.

As a parent, you’d want your baby’s first comfortable corner outside to be warm and cozy just as the womb. Choosing among the many things may be difficult and confusing for many parents.

Relax! Take a deep breath. Sit down and ake a list of all the “must-haves” you will be needing. Do you need some assistance on your herculean task? We’ve got our list of essentials for you.

An Air Purifier

We can’t emphasize how important air purifiers are for babies. The chances of the baby developing allergies are 25% higher if both parents suffer from allergies.  In children with both parents suffering from allergies, this number rises to 60-70%. It’s essential to purchase the best air purifier for the baby’s room.

It will eliminate dust, pet dander (in case you have a pet at home) mold, and all other airborne allergens from your little one’s nursery, ensuring that your baby breathes clean, fresh, and healthy air. Typically, an air purifier eliminates 99.7% of allergens and micropollutants.

When you bring home the baby, his or her immune system and lungs will be in a developing stage. Therefore, it is important to take precautions to ensure that he or she does not inhale many allergens and germs.

The air quality in your baby’s nursery and other parts of your house (you’d be carrying them around the house sometimes) can be improved. You’ll create a safe and healthy environment for your baby by investing in an air purifier.  You will be satisfied after you purchase it.

A Crib

A crib is where your little one will spend the majority of their time in the nursery, both waking and sleeping time.

Therefore, it is important to invest in a crib that is just as comfortable as sleeping in your arms. Cribs are barred or have latticed sides for the baby’s safety.

Typically, children use a standard crib for up to 24 months before moving on to a convertible crib that lasts up to five years. It is slightly larger than a regular crib, and it can be converted into a daybed with a simple mechanism.

A Changing Table

It’s pretty difficult and messy to change diapers in the crib. Changing tables are raised platforms that make diaper changing a little more convenient.

Typically, changing tables are waterproofed and well. They come with removable covers that are easy to clean. Some changing tables even have pull-out drawers. It’s a bonus storage space for diapers, nappies, clothes, medicines and other necessities, everything at hand.

A Trash Can

The diapers of your little one will need to be changed frequently. An enclosed trash can is highly recommended for your use.

Trash cans for throwing away baby’s diapers are easy-to-use receptacle bins. Typically, they are scented garbage bags that are kept under or next to the changing table.

Keeping one in the nursery will make it convenient for you to toss soiled diapers in it. To facilitate easier handling, the trash can has a lid for better hygiene. It opens by tapping with your foot.

A Mattress

The baby’s growth is facilitated by good sleep. Having a cotton mattress that is comfortable to sleep on is essential.

But this is not the only consideration when shopping for a good mattress. Several crib mattresses contain flame-retardant chemicals. Babies can be harmed by them when they are absorbed through their skin or inhaled.

Be sure the label states 100% organic or natural cotton. You shouldn’t take chances when it comes to mattress quality.

Curtains or Blinds

It’s essential to have blinds or curtains for your baby’s nursery to block out light and help your little one have a good sleep.

Make sure the materials you choose is natural as they do not contain synthetic polymers. Curtains made from natural materials can be less toxic and may also prevent allergic reactions.

When you’re expecting, there are hundreds of preparations you need to do but don’t forget to include these things in the list; they are a must.

Happy Parenting!
