The humble “door” is one of the most used items in your home, so when it’s time for a new one, how do you go about choosing one that’s just right? It could depend on your reasons for changing the door. For example, if a heavy-handed teenager slammed it so hard after a ‘lively’ discussion that it got damaged, perhaps a simple replacement is all you need. Why replace like for like when you could upgrade to something more stylish, modern and safe?

There are a few things to consider when picking your perfect door. We’ve given some guidance on a few so take a look below to help you decide…

  • Style matters

Whilst you may not have your own ‘home stylings’ account on social media, the chances are you still care what the place you spend most of your time in looks like. Replacing key features such as doors can have a huge impact on the overall look and feel of your space so don’t underestimate their power! As human beings we crave natural sunlight and one way to achieve this is with internal glazed doors, which brighten while still maintaining privacy with frosted glass options. Single pane, multi-pane, cutting edge modern or highly traditional; there are so many choices available you will get one to suit your taste whatever it may be. But if you’re feeling creative, you could even have a bespoke one made and change your whole lounge to match!

  • Material and finish

Internal glazed doors come in such a wide variety of finishes that they can match any existing color scheme or woodwork you already have, removing the need for a full-scale home décor project! You can choose from a variety of woods such as oak, pine and walnut and there’s also a range of greys and blacks for a more modern doorway.

  • Safety

It isn’t a pleasant topic, but safety is a consideration when selecting a door. No one wants to think their home might be ravaged with fire, but if it is a possibility that must be considered if you have open fires, etc. Your family’s protection is of utmost importance to ensure that whichever door you choose meets the necessary safety requirements for your living environment.

  • Cost

For many of us, budget is a key consideration when choosing anything for our home, so why would your doors be any different? Without compromising on quality, style or the brightness they give, internal glazed doors are incredible value for money starting from just over £100!

  • Environmental impact

In today’s world of climate change and ethical retail, you’d be right to consider how the different elements of décor in your home are sourced and made. When shopping, look for suppliers who use sustainable resources and operate fair trade practices to ensure your purchase negatively impacts no environments or communities.

The best piece of advice when choosing your new door is to enjoy the process and think about what the result will be in your home. You could end up with a much more stylish, bright and safer environment for your family – what’s not to love about that?
