What does a “night in” look like in our household?
We love to order pizza, chicken wings, and breadsticks. We order a pepperoni pizza, a beef pizza, and barbecue wings.
We pile up on the living room couches, turn off all the lights, and bundle up in blankets, while enjoying a nice movie on the screen with full surround sound.
Depending on work schedules, extracurricular activities, and who spent the night out, we may have a family movie night on the weekend or sometimes we have one during the week.
Some of our family favorites include Disney, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, or a movie from the Transformers series.
Surprisingly, I think it’s much more important to all of us to spend time together than it is to be “the one who got to pick the movie.” We sort of informally take turns choosing. But it’s nothing set in stone or official.
You got it, dude?
When it comes to a family night in, are you the homemade-meal, lights-off, candles-lit type of family like Stephanie Tanner? Or all about the blanket-bundled, popcorn-popped, fireplace-on life like Kimmy Gibbler? Every family has a special routine for family night in, including the real-life Tanner/Gibbler girls, who are now all grown-up with kids of their own. And most of those routines involve gathering around the TV (/iPad/computer). But while the routine itself is a no-brainer, finding something that everyone wants to watch can be tough. That’s why we’re psyched to see Stephanie, Kimmy and DJ back on the small screen later this month. With the launch of Fuller House on Feb. 26, we’ve got something that will appeal to you, your 14-year-old and your 5-year-old. Have mercy. |
