5 Simple Desserts You Can Make With the Help of a Blender

There’s nothing like a tasty sweet treat after a long day or night. Far too often dessert means whisking and spatulas and mixing and making a mess of dishes to clean up afterwards.

But there are a lot of desserts that you can make with your blender and minimize your kitchen clean-up in the process. Delicious and delectable treats that will have you wondering why you haven’t been using your blender to make desserts all along. Confectioneries like cookies, cakes, parfaits, and customized whip creams are just a button push away.

1. Milkshakes

A milkshake is an American classic. All you need is your blender, milk, and ice cream. Milkshakes are highly customizable dessert beverages that allow you to showcase your creativity. Just blend your favorite ice cream flavor with a little milk, and voila! If you prefer to go dairy-free, the substitutions are easy to make. There are lots of dairy-free alternatives to milk and ice cream. If you want to get adventurous, mix in pieces of your favorite candy bar or cookie chunks, or gummy bears.

2. Paleo Brownies

Did you know that you can make brownies in the blender too? In just five minutes of prep time, seven ingredients, and 25 minutes of bake time, you can have a paleo-friendly, gluten-free brownie in the time it takes you to clean up your kitchen from dinner. They’re fudgy and the addition of flaky sea salt helps to level out the sweetness.

3. Ice Cream

Homemade ice cream is hard to top. When you make it yourself, you can invent your own flavors, control the amount of sugar, use fresh fruit, or use an alternative dairy-free option. If you’re looking for something totally different, you can leave out the dairy and substitute a frozen banana. You’ll get the creaminess you’re after and some added sweetness and flavor. And if you need a few ideas, here are a few to consider: strawberry shortcake, blueberry banana, pistachio, peach, chocolate chip, and creamsicle.

4. Lemon Pie

When lemons are the perfect kind of sour you’re craving, a blender-made lemon pie could be just what you want. It only calls for seven ingredients that you likely already have in your kitchen. If you’re going for a quick fix, opt for a store-bought pie crust, and mix the eggs, cane sugar, butter, lemons, and vanilla extract in your blender. It’s light and springy and custardy with all of the zestiness you expect from a lemon dessert. This lemon pie is a 45-minute bake and a two-hour chill and it’s ready for you to dig in.

5. Orange Cake

Here’s where crunch and tender meet to give you a yummy and delightful treat. Eat this easy orange blender cake alone, drizzled with honey, dusted with powdered sugar, or with fresh berries on top. You’re only eight ingredients away from an almost no-prep dessert that will make taste buds sing. You don’t even have to peel the orange. You’ll be surprised at just how easy it is to make.

It’s easy and fast to make dessert when you enlist the help of your blender. It may be an unlikely choice for creating a dessert, but your blender is far more versatile than you may give it credit for. Get creative, and see what else you can come up with. It’ll be a lot of tasty fun.
