Whether it’s summertime or during the school year, it can be a challenge to keep kids away from screens. Learn three easy ideas for getting your kids away from screens.

It seems that getting kids away from electronics has become increasingly more difficult. Go to any restaurant and you’ll find that it is not uncommon to see a toddler with a tablet at the table.

Parents are getting frustrated, but they often don’t know what else to do to keep their children occupied and happy. While you may experience some initial resistance, here are a few ideas to help you get your kids away from their tablets.

Join a Sport

If you look in your area, you will likely find that there are a plethora of after school sports available to children. Some are offered by schools, but oftentimes, the city has programs. You can look up the best soccer academies in USA to get an idea on where to go.

If your child isn’t into team sports, you can sign him or her up for dance, karate or a number of other classes. Not only will your little one be away from the screen during this time, but it is also a great way for him or her to get some good exercise and make new friends.

Have Family Time

Marking out time each day that is specifically a no screen time can be beneficial. You can take this time to get to know more about your child’s life and having family bonding time.

In addition to having no screens at the table, you can plan a family activity. This could mean going on a walk each evening, or you can have a family game night once a week.

Make a Plan

Having a routine can lead to a lot less resistance from your child. This way he or she knows when screen time is and is not allowed. There are a few different ways that you can do this.

You can give your child a certain amount of screen time that he or she may use whenever, you can set a specific time of the day that tablets are allowed to be used, or you can have a list of things that must be done before electronics are allowed.

It is important to stick to whatever you decide to do. Once a daily routine has been put in place, there shouldn’t be any questions or fighting about when electronics are allowed and for how often.

It may take time to figure out a system that works best for your family, but once you do, you will get to enjoy more quality time with your kids.
