Spoiler Alert: This article may contain spoilers for season one of CW’s Stargirl.
After an amazing season one, you might be wondering what they can do to top it in season two. Although season two’s official release date hasn’t been set, Geoff Johns and other cast and crew members have been letting things slip about what’s coming.
Season One Teasers
From the epic ending of season one, you can pretty much guess that you will see some of the old favorites return. The most notable is the return of Solomon Grundy. No one has mentioned how he will return or what his role will be, but Johns did confirm that he would be back.
Also, you can expect to see more of the JSA’s vault and its contents. Many have speculated about the return of Dr. Mid-Nite and his owl Hoot. After the finale, his AI was destroyed, so it will be interesting to see how they manage to bring him back.
The Shade will also return. Some fans were disappointed by his brief appearances in season one, but season two is said to be where he shines. As foreshadowed, an appearance of the supervillain Eclipso is guaranteed. Eclipso is one of the most powerful villains in the series. His arrival is only one of the things discussed at Comic-Con.
New Heros in Season Two
Although not exactly new, cast and crew hinted that the pink pen would play a role in the next season. Thunderbolt the genie is mentioned as is Jade as new heroes for the modern JSA.
If you remember, Courtney stole several of the uniforms from the older JSA members. A few of those are expected to make an appearance in season two. One of those mentioned is Green Lantern. Jay Garrick was also mentioned as the Flash, but nothing is concrete yet.
Production Changes
Everyone is wondering if the production changes will cause issues with season two of Stargirl. DC Universe is moving to HBO Max, leaving Stargirl with CW. This change is huge in terms of financing for the show. The first season was a big-budget production, whereas the second will have its struggles. Fortunately, the production team promises that audiences won’t notice a difference in special effects or story.
Rumors and predictions abound while season two is still being written. There is no official release date for the next phase in the Stargirl saga, but one source says that a definite date will be forthcoming in early 2021.
