If you notice that you’re looking like a packrat, it might be time for that overdue garage sale. Garage sales are great because you can get rid of items you don’t need and make a bit of money.
5 Tips for Planning a Garage Sale

While you might know what a garage sale entails, there are a few steps you can take to make it far more effective and efficient. Learn all about it by following our tips for planning a garage sale.

Decide on a Date

First and foremost, you should decide on a weekend that works for you and your family. This means ensuring you will have enough help to run the garage sale. This also means letting your family know, in case there are any items they want to get rid of, and going through their belongings with them.

Clean Out Your Garage

A great place to go through and see if there is anything you want to see is your garage. This also gives you a chance to clean it out, so you have enough room to have a garage sale. Try to find a temporary space for your car and items for when you do eventually hold your yard sale.

Get Garage Sale Signs

To promote your sale, go to a local store and get a garage sign. Color psychology is something businesses use and you should do the same for your garage sale to grab their attention. Be creative with your sign so you can drive potential buyers to your home. Also, be strategic when it comes to where you place your garage sale sign. Place a sign with your address on the corners of busy streets so as many people can see it as possible. You can also place signs throughout within the neighborhood to easily guide potential customers to your sale.

Promote on Social Media

Something we didn’t always have for garage sales is social media, which can be an extremely useful tool for you. It’s free, and all you have to do is go on your account and share a post or start an event to let people know that you’re throwing a garage sale. This can reach even more people and takes just minutes to create.

Set Up Tables and Racks

An essential tip for planning a garage sale is to have plenty of tables and racks. Set up tables for various items and racks for clothing. Ask to borrow some folding tables if you don’t have enough. For clothing, set up a makeshift rack by using a pole with two ladders. This is the best way to make your garage sale easy to shop through.

It looks great! Did you r door have any texture to it, or was it smooth already? All of our doors have an ugly faux wood grain to them under the white builder-paint.

It’s tough to give too many points because of the show, since you can watch that without ordering any food. It would be like giving the Dole Whip stand a higher score because of the Tiki Room. (Not that the Dole Whip stand needs any help in the score department.)

Great article Tom. I read your stuff because you are one of the few disney blogs that actually dares to write something negative, which I wholly appreciate. Because of this article I’m intrigued if you could write a top ten worst restaurants in all disney parks, being one of the rare few to go to so many of them.Garage

guilty of not painting the ceilings and completely regretting it later. Lazy. Do you mind if I put a link to this post on my blog? I would love to share as I am painting my stairway hall from top to floors and you have a very witty tutorial here.
