When your day is filled with work, kids, and all your other obligations, you simply don’t have the time to dig through your kitchen drawers and cabinets while making dinner. Cooking can be stressful enough without the added complication of a messy kitchen. Fortunately, dinnertime doesn’t have to be a complicated ordeal. When you have a neat, orderly system throughout your kitchen, you can streamline your cooking time and get to what matters most: sitting down to have a meal with your family. Make mealtime less of a hassle with these creative tips for an organized kitchen.

Use Organization Tools

When it comes to organizing shelves and drawers, compartmentalizing is your friend. You can use baskets, wire shelves, and desk organizers to neatly sort and stack the contents of your kitchen. A small dish drying rack is perfect for holding the lids to your pots and pans. Desk organizers are the perfect way to neatly keep spices, coffee fixings, and other little ingredients. You can also make the most of any extra vertical space by buying or building extra shelves.

Get the Hang of It

Placing hooks on the walls or inside cabinet doors allows you to hang utensils or other lightweight dishes, clearing up space in your drawers and making your favorite tools easily accessible. You can mount a coat rack on the wall above or near your stove to keep the utensils you use most within reach. This also provides a great opportunity for decoration. Place hooks around your coffee maker to hang your favorite mugs or other cute dishes, showing off your style as well as your organizational skills.

Lean Into the Décor

Speaking of stylish, one of the best tips for an organized kitchen is to turn the space into a place you enjoy. Make it pretty, stylish, and uniquely you. Put decorative plates or towels on displays. Use breadboxes, glass or plastic jars, and other aesthetic storage solutions for sugar, flour, oils, and other ingredients. When you enjoy the look of your kitchen, you’re more inspired to keep the room clean and organized.
