When you remodel your bathroom, the first thing that comes to your mind can be the sink. After all, it remains in the center of everything, and you use it frequently too.

The main challenge with finding the right choice of them can be the sheer variety. From style to material to color, you have to take a call on so many things without losing focus of the functional aspects. And you cannot afford to overlook one side for the other as it will be like compromising when you had an opportunity to get something superior just right there.

Anyway, if you don’t have much time, it is always better to narrow down to a few options for ease of searching. For example, you can choose an undermount option influenced by a couple of substantial factors, such as their design and appearance, minimum maintenance and cleaning, and so on. If you aren’t much aware of these highlights about an undermount bathroom sink, don’t worry. Let’s delve into them for a quick understanding of why this can be a desirable plumbing feature for your cozy corner of the house.

The benefits of undermount bathroom sinks

The look and style

Unlike a semi-recessed one, an undermount sink sits inside the countertop. The sink rim stays below the edge of the counter, creating a flush appearance on the top. The bottom side of the basin remains under the countertop. Since it goes inside the countertop, it doesn’t enjoy the immediate visibility. Due to this, your countertop suddenly becomes the hero of the bathroom. You can utilize the space on it the way you desire. Besides, you can pair this plumbing feature with any countertop material, ranging from granite, limestone, and quartz. No matter what you select, you can trust the combination to create a tremendous visual effect.

The care and maintenance

Those who use this model praise it for its easy maintenance. If you buy a vessel or semi-recessed basin, you have to exert a bit to clean the outside surface and the surrounding bottom regions where dirt and stains can quickly grow. But undermount sinks tend to be the convenient choice. You can push debris from the countertop into this basin in one shot because of the lack of obstruction. Also, its smooth surface doesn’t allow any unpleasant thing to rest on it. Even if you notice any spot, you can get rid of it with one soft wet wipe. As far as cleaning the outer shell goes, you don’t have to think about it.

The optimization of the space

With this type of sink, you can make efficient use of your countertop. With semi-recessed or vessel sink bowls, you end up compromising a few inches. You cannot also do anything about it. But undermount sink doesn’t block the area. Since they settle down into the counter, you get a lot of free space to use it to decorate or store bathroom supplies.

Some homeowners invest in this for its ability to contribute to resale value. However, there is a challenge with this installation style. You would need a professional contractor to fit this because it can be a complicated process. Price can also be a little higher, but you can still expect to save a few dollars.

The choices in undermount bathroom sinks

Just like any other installation, this too can have something positive and something negative. But it should not bother you until it proves to be a complete mismatch to your expectations or bathroom setup. As such, it is a functional style with incredible features. If you talk about aesthetics, you can look at its attractive rectangular and square shapes. There can be oval and round models also. But the first two are the standard options, which exude the feeling of being at home. And if your countertop is not big enough, you can find a square or rectangular shape to empty some counter space for use.

In a square or rectangular shape, you can also notice slight variations, which allow you to be a little more creative with your bathroom design. However, amidst this, you must not forget about the size. Some brands offer you undermount basins from under 20 inches to 20 to 25 inches in length. For a smaller cabinet, 14 inches or so can be proper. If there is more room in your vanity, you can opt for 17 inches, which can be a decently large size. You have to take measurements to decide what can suit you better. If you don’t want to buy a 20 or 25-inch large sink, you can select two smaller sizes to reduce the burden.

If you are wondering about the material, ceramic and solid surfaces are the bathroom’s popular choices. You can look for other varieties also, such as glass. But undermount sinks in the ceramic and solid surface can be most durable and functional. You can go with ceramic to create classic to contemporary magic in your bathroom, leveraging its high-gloss finish and glaze. For a real modern feel, a solid surface sink can be the best addition. The luminous and airy look can effortlessly vibe with the energy. The only thing is these materials are mostly available in white color.

It can seem to be a constraint, but white being a neutral shade provides you immense flexibility to play with different themes. It can help you reflect and reciprocate to the interior design the way you wish.

Undermount sink can be a clever piece in your bathroom, depending on how you use it. From a reputed brand, you can expect to get a high-quality product for a fair price. Plus, you can relax about your investment. So, visit a credible branded store for your purchase. Whether you want to do a full or partial upgrade in your bathroom, starting with the sink shopping can be the most rewarding experience. From here, you can enlarge your vision about the overall décor and create a desirable environment. It can be a very satisfying journey in the end.
