Race Five Minute Friday

An Open Letter to (Life) Runners:

Do you see the finish line?

Do you know where you are starting from?

This race is about life and the pursuit of happiness.  The proverbial (rat) race.

Are you enjoying the journey?  Or, do you want to just be the first to finish?

Don’t pay attention to the other runners’ uniforms, strides, pace, or demeanor.

None of that matters as long as you can say “I ran a good race.”

Appreciate your (divine) trainer… and your sponsors (also known as family)?

Make sure that the voice you hear loudest is that of your supporters.  Ignore the critics and commentators.

Endurance (the ability to last the whole race) is far more important than speed (how fast the race is run)?

Five Minute Friday

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.

This entire month has felt like a race that I’m losing. Tonight I sat with my kids and we just laughed for a while. Nice to stop and see what life’s really about because all else just fades in the joy they bring. Great post!

This entire month has been like one long race for me that I seem to be losing. I took the time to just laugh with my kids this week and it has made all the difference. Great post!

Great reminder! It’s so easy to get caught up with the things that don’t matter but those are the things that are hindrances from us simply making the choice to endure. Pursuing Him, not happiness. Thanks for your timely words. 🙂

YES! We need to enjoy the journey. That’s sometimes the best part. I love running a race, being alone with God and just enjoying it at my slow and steady pace. It’s an awesome feeling!
Happy Friday – loved your post!
