Electric bikes are becoming more and more popular these days.

You ride them by using your muscle power, just like with the standard models, but they are also additionally supported by an electric motor. It is a cool and modern alternative to a traditional bicycle that comes with some great benefits.

Riding an eBike is not very different from operating the traditional one. After all, it’s still a bicycle, only with a brilliant addition in the form of an electrical system, a motor usually located in the rear hub. You can ride it either on your own or with help.

Just like in the case of basically everything, electric bikes come with both pros and cons, and we will discuss them in this article.

PROS:

Effortless riding

Electric bikes make it possible to ride for people who have given up sports activities some time ago, and their condition is not very good. Riding with electric support provides a smooth and painless transition to the activity. Now everyone can enjoy beautiful nature and travel tens of kilometers without excessive fatigue and injury. However, support doesn’t mean that there’s nothing left for you to do, so you don’t have to worry that you won’t get enough exercise.

Really Good eBikes is an excellent online store that can provide you with the best e-riding equipment tailored to your needs.

Power for hill climbing

Several driving assistance modes give you the ability to customize the electric riding support to suit your needs. Pedal-assist guarantees cyclist support on challenging climbs and enables riding without pedaling. Uphills feels like downhills! You don’t have to worry about how your chosen route looks like, as nothing will be able to beat you!

Commuting to work

The great advantage of electric bikes is that they can be used daily as a means of commuting. Thanks to the engine support, the journey will be comfortable, and even if an elegant dress code is required at a given position, you can be sure that you will reach the office without sweating. You will avoid traffic jams and get to the workplace faster than by car. It’s a win-win situation here: you have a sense of comfort and a stress-free, fast ride to work. Learn about electric cars at thinkev.com.

By choosing an electric bike, you can save a significant sum compared to using a vehicle. Unlike the car, the two-wheeler does not cause environmental pollution and is much more eco-friendly. By replacing a car with an e-bicycle, you care about nature, body shape, and, more, you save money!

Some models can be even stored under your desk at work since they can be folded.

Are you struggling with injuries?

The electric bicycle minimizes the muscle load allowing for a longer and more comfortable ride. Traveling by traditional two-wheelers can be too tiring, especially for people who are struggling with injuries or, for some other reasons, cannot strain their muscles. An electric bike is a way to reduce the risks and fully control how much effort you need to put into riding.

Therefore, electric bicycles are an excellent option for the elders or asthmatics, as they don’t burden the joints or the respiratory system. Thanks to the assisting mode that can be set at different levels, pedaling may be facilitated, while opting out of the assist mode, you can raise the bar at any time.

CONS:

The price

Electric bikes are indeed more expensive than the traditional ones; after all, you get a bike with a whole electric motor system. However, they also tend to be more durable, so it’s an investment for years! So even if your budget is tight, don’t dismiss this electric option, especially that, with the proper research, you can find a suitable eBike for just over $1000.

May you live on the ground floor

In addition, electric bikes can be quite heavy, definitely heavier than traditional ones. The whole set with accessories (battery and motor) can weigh about 65 lbs, which is extremely disadvantageous when it is necessary to bring it to the high floor of the building with no elevator.

However, it’s not impossible to find a good and lightweight eBike, but you will probably need to pay a little more.

Battery charging

It’s not really a con. Of course, battery life is limited, and you need to charge it, preferably after each ride, but so does your phone, and it’s not like its battery life makes you consider whether you need your phone at all, right?

So it should not be a problem, especially that even if your battery is drained, you will still be able to pedal your way home; you’re not getting stranded.

Summary

Riding a bike itself has no drawbacks. Cycling is relaxing and helps us relieve stress. Despite some minor disadvantages that e-bikes have, there should not be a reason to give up the purchase of those two-wheelers simply because you can give yourself a unique riding pleasure and do your body a favor.

The high purchase price can scare away, but when you decide to replace the car with a bicycle, you will notice that you are actually saving money.
