Preparing for the Winter: Items of Clothing That Will Keep Your Kids Snug and Warm

by RAKI WRIGHT

Getting everything ready and your family all sorted for the winter can be a tough and lengthy task for any Mom out there.

There’s a lot to consider and you definitely should look to start early and get the important items in that you will need for the winter. One of the most essential things you must do when preparing for the winter with your family and making sure your kids stay nice and warm is getting them enough items of winter clothing.

There’s nothing worse than your kids complaining all the time about how they feel cold and God forbid they become ill as a result of cold during the winter. Therefore, you should look for some warm and cute dresses for children in this colder weather.

Go and shop around to find them some suitably snug comfortable clothing for the colder weather.

We have come up with some top tips on clothes you can buy that will keep your little ones warm and snug in the winter.

Winter Coats and Waterproof jackets

Getting a suitable coat or jacket in the winter is essential for keeping your child dry from the rain. Kids hate having to walk around feeling wet for hours, and their bodies being wet and cold for too long can also cause children to get sick quickly. So go into a store near you or have a good browse online for a good quality durable winter coat or jacket. You should keep in mind what material you are looking for. Do you want to buy a coat or jacket to be made of waterproof Gore-tex or microfiber material? Or are you looking for a cute traditional winter coat made from wool? After getting your kids warm winter coats, you can later on get some great photos of them enjoying themselves playing outside in their winter gear.

Warm Things for Your Kids to Wear When Sleeping

Your young one will of course spend a large amount of their time sleeping and napping and getting plenty of rest, that still doesn’t mean however that they will refrain from waking you up at inconvenient times repeatedly during the night. If you’re after baby gowns, wearable blankets, and baby sleep sacks, take a look at Babysoy’s range of snuggly winter clothes that your children can slip into and go to sleep feeling comfy. Babysoy products are made with azlon from soy fiber which is a protein based fiber that has warmth retention comparable to wool and smooth as silk.  The porous fiber structure helps regulate temperature allowing babies to stay warm but not overheat.

Mittens, Gloves, and Hats

A set of hats and gloves are important for keeping your kid’s hands and head warm. Gloves will be great if you are lucky enough to get any snow, no child can properly throw snowballs without gloves. A good hat will also save their hair from getting overly wet in the rain. A reliable set of hat and gloves are vital during the winter and particularly when your children get the chance to enjoy playing in the snow. Let’s admit it, mittens are also very handy for kids in the winter too.

Thick Winter Socks

Having cold feet and being able to feel their toes in the winter is annoying and uncomfortable for your children. So, look into getting some pairs of snuggly thick warm socks for your kid(s) for the winter. In order to keep a child’s feet warm and insulated from the cold, you should look into buying socks that are made of wool, and not cotton. However, be careful what type of socks you decide to buy, if socks are too thick it could cause your child to develop blisters or affect their circulation.

Winter Shoes and Rubber Boots

Your kid of course during the winter needs to have the right footwear so they can play outside properly in the mud and puddles.

Leather boots are durable and definitely strong enough for children to wear when playing outside during the winter months. However, leather boots can sometimes be heavy and clumpy and not all children will like walking around in them.

Rubber boots (or ‘rain boots’ as some people call them) are ideal for kids splashing around in muddy puddles during the cold winter weather. They are also often fully waterproof, meaning your kid’s feet and toes will not get cold and wet. Many of us as adults still hold precious memories of ourselves going out wearing a pair of our beloved rubber boots in the rainy winter and having a great time outside without a care in the world.

Umbrellas

Bringing an umbrella when venturing outside with your young kids in winter months can be a very useful tool. You don’t want to chase your kids around outside whilst being soaked and wet through, why not invest in an umbrella?

You may even look into getting your kids a small size special child umbrella for themselves. Hopefully, your child having the opportunity to use an umbrella will mean they are even better sheltered from the rain. Umbrellas particularly come in handy in heavier torrential downpours.

So, make sure you go out there find plenty of clothes that help to wrap your kids up warm and feeling cozy this winter.
