Getting a dog is a big commitment and it’s important to prepare your home and family with the necessary steps to make your pup’s transition smoother. Follow the steps in this article to make sure you’re all set!

Find Ideal Spots In Your Home

Assuming you have already decided on adding a furry friend to your home, the next step is to make sure your home is ready for them. This means finding the ideal spots in your home for them to hang out, eat, and sleep.

The first thing you’ll want to do is find a comfortable spot for their bed. This should be in a quiet area of the house where they can relax. You’ll also want to make sure their bed is big enough for them to stretch out and move around in.

Next, you’ll need to find the perfect spot for their food and water bowls. This should be an easily accessible area that they can get to without any trouble. It’s also important to make sure their food and water bowls are placed far away from each other to avoid any accidents.

Last but not least, you’ll need to create a designated potty area for your new dog. This should be an outdoor area that’s easy for them to get to and has plenty of grass or turf. Once you’ve found the perfect spot, simply place some newspaper or pee pads in that area so they know where it is.

Check For Dangerous Areas

When you’re getting a new dog, it’s important to also check your home for any areas that could be dangerous for them. This includes things like small spaces they could get stuck in and anything else they could hurt themselves on.

If you’re not sure what to look for, ask your vet or an animal behaviorist for help. Once you’ve identified any potential hazards, take steps to make them safe before bringing your new dog home.

Hide Cords And Wires

If you have exposed cords or wires in your home, it’s time to start hiding them. Your new dog will be curious and may accidentally chew on exposed wires, which can be dangerous. By hiding cords and wires, you can help keep your new dog safe.

There are a few different ways to hide cords and wires. You can use cord covers to hide cords that run along the floor. If you have cords that are attached to the wall, you can use cord concealers or wire organizers to tidy them up and keep them out of sight. You can also tuck cords behind furniture or into other areas where your new dog is unlikely to find them.

Purchase The Proper Food

You want to make sure you get food that is specifically designed for dogs and that is nutritionally balanced. This will help your dog stay healthy and avoid any stomach or digestive problems.

There are a lot of different brands and types of dog food on the market, so it’s important to do your research before making a purchase. You can talk to your veterinarian about what type of natural raw dog food would be best for your new dog, and read online reviews to get an idea of which brands are highly rated. Once you’ve settled on a few options, you can then price compare to find the best deal.

Purchase Indoor And Outdoor Items

Purchasing items for both the inside and outside of your home is important when you’re getting a new dog. For the inside, you’ll want to get things like a crate, bed, bowls, and toys.

For the outside, you’ll need a leash, collar, and maybe even a doghouse. You’ll also want to purchase some type of ID for your dog in case they ever get lost.

Be Equipped With The Right Cleaning Products

You want to be prepared with the right cleaning products to keep your house clean and fresh. Here are some of the cleaning products you’ll need to keep on hand:

Vacuum cleaner: A good vacuum cleaner is a must for any home with pets. It will help you keep your floors clean and free of pet hair.

Carpet cleaner: A carpet cleaner is essential for keeping your carpets clean and free of stains.

Hardwood floor cleaner: If you have hardwood floors, you’ll need a special cleaner to keep them looking their best.

Tile and grout cleaner: Tile and grout can be tough to keep clean, but there are special cleaners that can help.

Window cleaner: Your windows will need to be cleaned more often when you have a dog in the house. Make sure you have a good window cleaner on hand.

Bringing a new dog into your home is an exciting time, but it’s also important to do some preparation first. By following the steps in this article, you can make sure that your home is ready for your new furry friend and that they’ll have everything they need to be comfortable.
