The joy of childbirth doubles when you are blessed with twins. It is magic to see two babies grow up together. The connection between twins is truly something special.

However, twice the fun also means twice the trouble. If handling one baby is difficult, two is an absolute nightmare. Parents of twin babies always look mentally and physically drained.

There are so many benefits of having twins. You have been blessed with two through the hardship of one pregnancy, and your children will always have someone to play with.

Don’t let this gift become a curse. Learn to organize your life around raising your twin babies. Become a pro with these tips.

Less is More with Twin Babies

When a child is born, the parents are showered with baby gifts. While some come in handy, others tend to clutter our homes.

When handling twins, everything you need must remain organized and within sight. Say no to a house cluttered with baby stuff.

When you are at a store or going through online stores, avoid buying baby things. No matter how cute a toy is, don’t give into bringing it home. Your baby won’t be playing with many toys for the first few months.

Spend only on things that you will absolutely need. You will need to spend money on diapers and other baby necessities. Don’t waste your money on useless things that will more than likely simply sit at home.

Don’t Get Permanently Stuck At Home

Having twin babies doesn’t give you the excuse to stay at home. Handling two babies at once is tough, but permanently saying goodbye to sunlight is a no-no.

It is easier to leave the house with twins when both you and your partner are home. However, remember that you are a supermom. Try to leave the house for a walk in the park or to run errands.

Prepare a diaper bag for your outings with the twins. The bag should include enough diapers, baby wipes, a change of clothes, burp cloths, etc.

You will need a double stroller for these outings with your babies. At SnugBaby.net, you can compare the best double strollers and select the one suitable for you.

Try to Stay On Schedule

You never know where the time goes when raising babies. When you have twins, it is even worse. Keeping on track with their feedings and health-related things can be difficult.

Stay on track with your babies’ schedules. You will need to keep track of your babies’ feeding times, sleep schedules, etc.

Having a daily log for your twin babies is a great idea. You will be able to keep track of things like temperature, rash, behavior patterns, sleeping times, etc. It will be very useful when visiting doctors.

By staying on schedule, you can ensure that you are taking care of the babies properly. Managing time for everything becomes easier when you have allocated time for different activities.

Working Together as a Couple

Even as a stay at home parent, handling twin babies can be difficult. Sharing the chores and raising them together will make raising twins easier. They can do the diaper changing and bottle feeding when they are at home.

Sharing chores with your partner will relieve some of your stress. For example, if you are busy with the babies, they can cook meals, wash dishes, etc.

After having a baby, communication between parents tends to dwindle. Your relationship with your partner must remain strong. Being open and honest with each other is vital for a healthy relationship.

Talking about your day while working together on chores is a great idea. Sharing responsibilities helps the couple understand each other.

Managing the Feeding

Two babies mean twice the amount of bottles needed. Fix a time to prepare all of the bottles for the day. This will save time and help you tend to two hungry babies quickly.

Fix the number of bottles prepared based on your baby’s feeding needs. Prepare these bottles when the babies are sleeping, either in the morning or at night. This is easy to do when the baby only drinks formula.

Nursing with twins can get difficult. You can alternate between bottle feeding and nursing.

If you use a breast pump, you can prepare bottles of breastmilk. Don’t feel guilty or pressurized by what others may say. It is alright to use both formula and breastmilk if the production is low.

Keep Your House as Organized as Possible

A house with twins will get messy. Breaking down is natural when two babies are wailing, and you can’t find the mattress protector. The important thing is to make sure that the things you need are at hand.

A lot of moms use hanging shoe organizers to keep socks, pants, singlets, etc. It is easier to use see-through ones so that you know what each pocket contains.

If you buy a new baby wardrobe, make sure you get one with a lot of drawers. You can label the drawer with what it contains. This will help keep clothing essentials close at hand.

Go for minimal furniture in your baby room.  Keep them in one crib.

Final Thoughts

If you are handling twin babies, you are already a supermom. Staying organized is the key to successfully raising two healthy babies. Keeping track of your babies’ everyday basic needs is crucial.

Remember to motivate yourself regularly. Handling two babies who seem to be constantly crying, peeing, and pooping is not easy. Create an organization system and follow it.

Take a deep breath and think of what needs to be managed first. If it is organizing the babies’ belongings, tackle that first. Taking baby steps to manage your life with twin babies is more than enough.

You won’t become an expert overnight. Try something new every other week if it is easier. Move at your own pace and follow your mom instincts.
