How Often Should You Replace A Bidet And Why

This post may contain affiliate links. Read full disclosure.

by RAKI WRIGHT

The bidet idea might seem foreign to Americans, but European and Asian countries have been using the system for centuries. It’s a toilet accessory used to clean your nether regions.

Since its separately installed with a toilet, it needs maintenance from time to time to run smoothly. Always find an experienced bidet repair service company around your area if you need an installation or your preinstalled accessory needs fixing. Additionally, if you have recently installed the accessory on your toilet, you must know why and how often a bidet needs replacement.

  1. Daily Clean the Seat

Bidet seats need daily cleaning. Cleaning the seat makes sure it’s clean and hygienic to use. Washrooms are a haven from bacterial growth, and keeping the seat clean daily increases the life of a bidet and keeps you away from diseases. However, it would help if you took some precautions before washing the seat. Don’t use scrub aggressively; use a soft cloth and always use a soft cleanser to clean it.

  1. Wash the Nozzle Once a Day

The nozzle of a bidet is a sensitive area; since it controls the water pressure, it is more susceptible to damage than any other part. The nozzle can also be damaged by the quality of the water and how it’s used. A bidet’s nozzle is also one that needs daily cleaning. All bidet nozzles allow the water to run over them. Make sure to do it once or twice a day to keep the nozzle clean and prevent clogs. A bidet can survive for up to a decade if it’s maintained and cleaned correctly.

  1. Clean the Filter Once a Month

Some bidets come with a deodorizing filter pre-installed in them. They don’t need daily cleaning but should be looked at once a month. It is essential to clean the filter to prevent any foul smell from coming out of a toilet bowl. Cleaning a deodorizing filter is easy; you need a brush and clean water. Take the filter out and clean rub the brush over it gently a few times, use water to wash. Don’t install immediately; let it dry first.

  1. Complete Cleaning Once a Month

Manufacturers of bidets advise their customers to wash the bidet at least once a month. It’s not like washing the bidet seat; it’s about cleaning the whole thing. First, you need to detach the bidet and toilet lid and clean it with a soft cloth. Don’t use strong chemicals to clean; they can scratch or damage the surface.

  1. Clean the Strainer every 3-4 Months

Some manufacturers install a strainer to protect bidets from hard water and minerals. The strainer collects all the minerals and other impurities from the water to maintain proper functionality. Cleaning a strainer is necessary for the nozzle to work smoothly otherwise, it will get clogged. To avoid this, check the strainer every 3-4 months and remove impurities from it.

Bidets are an expensive accessory, and to ensure their long life, they need to be adequately maintained and cleaned. Use the above methods to ensure your bidet survives for more than a decade.
