Psychotherapy is a form of counseling. It enables the patient to work better on his feelings and equally prepares them to combat novel challenges either related to present or past.

If you are suffering from mental issues or someone you know is having mental health problems, you will want to go under the best possible treatment for you and your close ones. Then one of the best to treat your psychological issues is psychotherapy. Currently, researches have provided evidence that cognitive-behavioral therapy, which is a significant part of psychotherapy, is now being considered a gold standard treatment option for psychological patients(David, Cristea, & Hofmann, 2018). There is a total of five techniques of psychotherapy; each can have a different impact on you. These are psychoanalysis and psychodynamic, behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, humanistic therapy, and integrative therapy.

The first one is humanistic therapy. It provides counseling about how you can make better choices and how you can reach your goals. It is further divided into three components: “Client-centred therapy, gestalt therapy, and existential therapy.” Client-centered therapy directly deals with you and will enable you to share emotions and thoughts without any hesitation.

Gestalt therapy can be best understood with a proverb’s help that “what you reap what you sow.” It enables you to realize that you should take responsibility for your doings.  The last one is existential therapy; it’s all for finding a purpose in focusing on that individual’s free will. Any form of this humanistic therapy can counsel the patient; even these can be used in combination.

The next one is behavioral therapy.  In this technique, the focus is on learning, learning better, and how it can help you behave better. It will equally support you to learn to-do numerous things, including foul or useful items. It allows the psychologist to understand what kind of person you can become if you know the things he likes. This theory recommends that” people learn to associate one thing with another, leading to continued action the same way.”

Psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy chiefly force patient behaviors, thoughts, emotions, and even the patient to be unaware of these feelings.  It requires s a strong collaboration between the therapist and the patient. These therapies support the patient to work on their feelings, emotions thinking, and behavior.

Integrative therapy is always used in combination with other psychotherapy techniques. Like it can be used with behavior and cognitive therapy. This will significantly impact patient status as more than two therapies are being used in different combinations.
