6 of the best card games you are ever going to play

The pack of cards developed independently in three ancient cultures – Ancient China, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient Persia. There are also rumors that in Ancient Rome they had a similar concept that they painted onto rocks instead of paper. They were all used in similar ways – for playing games and for fortune telling – but they came with many different patterns, suits, and sizes.

The pack of cards didn’t reach the uniform state that we currently know until they were adopted by Europeans in the late 15th century. This is when the four modern suits (Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, and Clubs) were introduced, as well as the Royal Cards (King, Queen, Jack) and the Fool(now known as the Joker) card.

Cards have remained popular for over 2000 years because you can play so many games with them – here are our 6 best card games.

#1 – Poker

Poker is the king of the casino and has been since the 18th Century.

There are over 40 different types of Poker, however, the most popular is currently Texas Hold ‘Em Poker.

In this version of the game, each player is dealt 5 cards, then another 5 cards are laid out on the table.

This game needs to be played by at least two people – but it is just as fun with two people or six.

#2 – Solitaire

If you are looking for a card game to play on your own then you CANNOT do any better than Solitaire – you can even play it for free online at https://online-solitaire.com/freecell.

Solitaire is a solo game where you play against a shuffled deck and attempt to sort it out into suit piles in numerical order.

We know that description makes the game sound simple and a bit dull – but trust us, once you start playing Solitaire, you will get addicted. And if you do get bored, you can simply try an alternative version like klondike, pyramid and spider solitaire.

It is its simplicity and blends of skills and luck that make this game so entertaining. Did we mention that it is one of the oldest card games that is still played?

#3 – Rummy

Rummy is a card game that you will need at least one other person to play with. It is a great group game that you can pull out on a rainy day to keep people entertained. It is easy enough for children to play, as well as adults.

To win a game of Rummy you must match your whole hand. You are given 7 cards, you must then get a 4 card match and a three-card match. These matches can either be a set (three or four of a kind) or the same suit run (i.e 4, 5, 6, 7 of Hearts).

This can be done by drawing, swapping, or trading cards.

#4 – Irish Snap

This game is most fun when played with a large group of people.

All the cards are dealt out equally to the players. Then the player takes it, in turn, to put down a card. When the first player puts a card down they say, Ace, the second player says 2, and so on.

If the card that is placed down matches the number that the player has said (or is a Jack) then all players must put their hands on the pile. The last player to put their hand down picks up all the cards.

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins.

#5 – Go Fish

This is another group game that is great to play with the little ones.

The aim of the game is to get as many sets (3 or 4 of a kind) as possible. You collect the cards by drawing from the deck or asking other players to give you their cards.

You can ask another player if they have a card, if they do, they have to give it to you.

#6 – Blackjack

Blackjack is another popular casino game. This game requires at least two people to play, as someone must play the role of the dealer.

The aim of the game is to score 21 points. If your set of cards scores more you lose. If no one scores 21 then the closest person to 21 wins.

The dealer gives everyone two cards. Players can look at their cards and can decide if they would like the third one – to try and get closer to 21.

If you get the hand: Ace of Spades with either of the blackjacks then you will win a bonus in the casino.
