by RAKI WRIGHT

When we think of a vacation it usually brings up thoughts of relaxation, escaping daily stressful routines and memorable experiences.

A family vacation gives a chance for members to bond, have new adventures and make experiences that will last a lifetime.

Punta Mita, a tropical heaven located on the north end of Banderas Bay in the Mexican state of Nayarit is one of the best locations in the world to travel to – and for pretty good reason.

World class Punta Mita lodging options, beautiful beaches, and a ton of activities families can enjoy. After all, it wouldn’t be a beach paradise without all the island activities.

1. Surfing

For families that have never tried surfing, there are plenty of surf schools in Punta Mita that are friendly and accommodating to those that are first-timers.

It’s a pretty fun experience learning new things together with the family and the best thing is that the instructors always put your safety above everything else plus it’s very satisfying learning how to surf for the first time.

2. Scuba Diving/Snorkeling

Scuba Diving/Snorkeling Scuba diving is a memorable experience since: first, you get to see the beautiful and unique marine life present in the area (Punta Mita) plus it’s a shared experience with family. Don’t forget to bring with you your full face dive mask to have an unforgettable diving experience.

Scuba diving is safe and before you’re allowed to scuba dive you’ll have to follow safety procedures and be with an instructor to ensure a safe experience. There are plenty of rules to follow when scuba diving but when you have them all in mind it’ll be smooth sailing from thereon.

Snorkeling, on the other hand, would just require you to bring your own snorkeling gear of course.

3. Island tours (in-land)

What better way to get to know Punta Mita than booking an island tour for the family?

In-land tours are usually a good idea on the first day of the trip to get a rough overview of the area, and also get to know the locals better.

Sayulita, one of Mexico’s “Magical Towns”, is a seaside town that is just 30 minutes away from Punta Mita and is one of the places families should visit. It would also give you a chance to visit the Four Seasons Punta Mita, St. Regis Punta Mita, Casa Aramara Punta Mita.

The in-land tours should also be a chance for you plan out next day water trips like surfing, snorkeling, island hopping and more.

4. Island Hopping

Island hopping is the act of traveling from one island to another and is usually accompanied with different itineraries for different chartered boats.

This is usually one of the most memorable things to do since it gives families a chance to experience Punta Mita sea culture and some itineraries also include having lunch on the island being visited. It would be recommended to do island hopping when you plan to do all the water activities or giving it a separate day of its own. Whichever works out.

5. Hiking/In-land adventures

Hiking or even just strolling along the beautiful beach of Punta Mita is a great way to feel relaxed and truly “be in the state of vacation”. The sound of waves crashing on the shore, the salty wind of the sea, and accompanied by either the sunrise or the sunset – is truly a paradise here on Earth.

6. Golfing

The golfing spot accompanied by the view of the ocean is considered legendary to many and what better way than to relax, unwind than to play a game of golf?

There are different golf providers in the island and they both offer different rates/services and some may also require you to bring your own club (optional) but they also offer golfing courses to those willing to learn. The pictures of the golfing courses themselves even look unreal.

7. Biking/Mountain Biking

A part of the inland activities, biking is a fun way to exercise all the while reducing stress and getting to see the small communities in Punta Mita.

There are instructors that also act as mountain bike guides that can take your families biking into the hilly parts of Punta Mita to see all the beauty the island has to offer.

8. Doing yoga on the beach

An activity often overlooked, yoga improves physical and mental health by reducing stress and it’s proven that yoga reduces cholesterol.

Yoga on the beach with the family is a great way to unwind, stretch, and be prepared for the day’s activities. There also yoga instructors on the island that offers these services for different prices as well.

Punta Mita is a beach paradise and there are tons and tons of activities families could and should experience while on a vacation in the area.

Day by day there are more activities being planned out/being made available in the area and this adds into a very good reason why its world-class luxury vacation and is on the bucket list of many families.

A word of advice for the activities (in-land or not) is to be very careful when picking the companies for the activities and to pick one with itineraries that will suit your family.
