Germany continues to be a fantastic tourist spot for people all over the world. 2017 saw a three percent increase in tourists making overnight visits to the country compared to the previous year. There is so much to see and do in Germany you will definitely want to give yourself plenty of time to do it all. If you plan on traveling with children, then there are plenty of activities people of all ages can partake in.

Visit a Castle

Your kids will be positively amazed when they step foot in a genuine castle. One fascinating aspect of the country is that it used to be home to numerous principalities and states. As a result, the country is filled with many famous castles. Some of the most famous you can check out include Heidelberg Castle, Schloss Nordkirchen, Neuschwanstein Castle and Charlottenburg Palace.

Take a Train Ride

One unforgettable way to see the German countryside is to take a train. Many trains even offer discounted or free admission for young children. It is a laid-back way to see beautiful German sites, and many trains come with all the modern amenities you will need, such as restaurants and Wi-Fi. Some tourist trains even make stops, so you can get out and actually walk around parts of Germany you would not have seen otherwise.

Explore the Great German Outdoors

Many parks and forests around Germany are accessible from public transportation, so you can reach them effortlessly. There are plenty of trails to take, including ones designed for children’s little legs. A simple nature trail makes for ideal family time.

Try Incredible Foods

There are hundreds of places to eat in Germany. Even if your children tend to be picky eaters, they are bound to find a new dish they will love. Spätzle is a popular dish with children in the region, and it is basically German macaroni and cheese. Other dishes your children may enjoy include pommes, which is French fries, and bratwurst.

Visit a Museum

There are many museums around Germany designed with children in mind. The Museum of Natural History is a great spot to visit, and your kids will definitely be amazed at the huge dinosaur skeletons. Other museums that are fun for children and adults alike include the Chocolate Museum in Cologne and the Toy Museum in Nuremberg.

Go to the Beach

There are plenty of seaside beaches around Germany to enjoy. You will need to check ahead of time to make sure the currents in the area you will be in will not go too fast. There are also numerous lakes that populate the countryside. The water here is usually a bit warmer, and there can be various amenities in the area, including playgrounds, snack stands and boat rentals.

To do all of this, you will need a way to get around the country. The simplest way to accomplish this is to rent a vehicle from CarRentals.com. Once you have your transportation all set, you and your kids will have a vacation none of you will ever forget.
