5 Ways To Ensure Your Next Road Trip is a Blast

by RAKI WRIGHT

If you’re tired of working and want to get away, you might be considering going on a road trip. Whether you go by yourself or with a group of friends, you want to ensure you have a great time and that the trip goes off without a hitch.

Here are five ways to better ensure your next road trip is the best one ever.

  1. Listen to Audiobooks

Even if you are overflowing with excitement about getting to your final destination, driving for hours on end can sometimes become tedious. To help with the boredom, listen to an audiobook. Choose a few ahead of time, so you have some options in case you dislike one. Pick stories that will intrigue you and keep you on the edge of your seat, and you’ll find that you’re at your destination before you know it.

  1. Rent a Car

Instead of subjecting your car to the wear and tear of a road trip, rent a car. Services like Avail car sharing make it easy to rent the perfect car. Depending on the rental service you choose, you can rent a car using an app on your phone or online. Make sure you look closely at the contract to identify potential hidden fees. Additionally, use a car rental service that includes insurance for the vehicle, so you’ll know you’re protected in case you get into an accident.

  1. Plan Stops

While your ultimate goal is to get to your final destination, you don’t want to be so caught up in getting there that you miss all the beautiful things around you. Look up popular destinations along your planned route to identify areas you should explore. It could be something as simple as an overlook with amazing views or something a little more adventurous, like exploring caves or taking a short hike.

When you take the time to stop, you’ll not only have a chance to explore the countryside, but it will also be a great way to stretch your limbs and work off some built-up energy.

  1. Pack Plenty of Snacks

Road trips and snacks seem to go hand in hand. Instead of getting less than desirable and overpriced snacks at convenience stores, bring your own. Choose snacks that you like to eat that don’t require too much work to prepare. Some good snacks could be snack-size bags of your favorite popcorn or chips, small pots of hummus with carrot sticks, or cuts of meat wrapped around pieces of cheese.

Make sure you always pull into a gas station or other safe place to eat your snacks. While you might think you’re okay to eat while driving, you’ll be much more distracted than you realize.

  1. Take Photos

When you have a great time, you want to document it so you can remember it and so others can see the amazing things you did. Use a camera or your phone to take pictures and upload them to a cloud service so you’ll never lose them if something happens to the device you took them on.

When you go on a road trip, you want it to be the trip of a lifetime. Knowing how to prepare ahead can help make the trip one you’ll never forget.
