Confidence seems like a tricky art to master until you stop trying so hard and just let it flow. The key to seeming confident (even when you’re not) is by acting like you’re in control. Control is, for the most part, just an illusion – we all feel like we’re in control until we’re not – and that’s okay. Uncertainty is the very nature of life and it’s what makes every moment so unique because you will never get another moment just like it. Here are 5 simple ways to boost your confidence and live your best life.

  • Dress Up

Projecting an air of confidence is much easier to do when you’re looking your best. I’m not saying you have to get all dressed up every time you want to feel confident but it is important that you are clean and presentable at all times. Make sure your clothes are clean and they fit well, and your hair is clean and brushed, that may seem like it won’t make much of a difference but it can make all the difference. You’ll feel good if you look good, the psychology is simple.

  • Walk Tall

Natural confidence levels come down to personality (nature) as well as nurture. Different personality types can have a completely different stance of relationship confidence, for example, an ENFP in relationships could be highly energetic and seem a lot more confident than a more reserved personality type. Just remember that perception is largely an illusion that we create in our minds to make sense of the world around us.

  • Choose Your Friends

Surround yourself with people that love you and only want the best for you, being surrounded with that much care and support will always be a major confidence boost. Learn how to choose your friends wisely when you are younger because they will ultimately play a major role in the development of your confidence.

  • Master a New Skill

Knowing how to do something and knowing how to do that something well are two different things. There are many things we can all say with confidence that we can do, but far fewer things we can say we master. Knowing how to do something exceptionally well can go a long way to boosting your overall general confidence. Performing a task to the best of our ability and being a great success is a natural confidence booster, just make sure that the skill you master is an impressive one. Being able to impress people is the ultimate form of a confidence boost.

  • Faking It Isn’t Always Bad…

You’ve probably heard people talking about faking it until you make it, which is perfectly good advice. Perception is so important when it comes to projecting the right attitude and pretending you’re more confident than you truly are will not cause any harm or do any damage. The longer you pretend to be filled with confidence, the easier it will be for you and for others to believe it.
